No matter how the clothes are, designers at fashion week never fail to impress with cool makeup styles. With their conceptual and themed unique makeup and hairstyles, they never disappoint. We saw tons of new and creative beauty trends by top designers on the runways of Fall/Winter 2018 collections. Check ’em all out below!
Unique Makeup Looks from Fall Winter 2018-19 Collections
Jeremy Scott’s alien conspiracy-inspired collection was one of my favorites from Milan Fashion Week. Mostly because of the weird makeup. Models were painted in bright colors from head to toe with even the brows and lips in a matching color! If you’re looking for any unusual makeup ideas for a themed party, consider this high fashion makeup look. Contradictory to the makeup, the runway hair was a 60s Jackie O style flipped bob.
Prada’s fall 2018 runway makeup at Milan Fashion Week was all about they eyes! Bright-colored eyeshadows in exaggerated cat-eye shapes with a lighter, pastel color on the inner corner of the water line, and no it doesn’t stop there! Different sizes of swarovski crystals decorated the already bold and futuristic cat-eye. Glossy lips, natural brows and a slicked back wet hair look completed the glitter makeup looks.
Ever wanted to look like a magical, sparkly unicorn? Try this unique makeup from Giambattista Valli. At his FW18 collection at PFW, models walked the show with their entire faces and necks speckled with holographic glitter! Just when I thought the holo trend couldn’t get any more extreme!
With nude eyes, nude lips and center-parted straight hair, the runway makeup and hair at Versace was simple and minimal yet gorgeous. As always!
As fascinating and interesting as the show was, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find it creepy. Models walked Alessandro Michele’s Fall Winter 2018 show carrying frighteningly realistic replicas of their heads. So, of course the runway hair and makeup couldn’t be boring. The unique makeup look had thickly lined eyes but it isn’t on the water line or the upper lash line. Some space has been left in between to make it look graphic. The rest of the face almost seemed as if there was no makeup and the hairstyle was quirky cropped bangs.
Nicholas Ghesquiere’s Fall/ Winter 2018-19 fashion show had colorful and graphic runway makeup. The unique makeup looks had geometric shapes in contrasting colors painted on the lid. Some models even had just one eye painted and the other bare!
Fresh and glowy was the makeup of choice at Valentino’s collection at Paris Fashion Week. The runway hair and makeup was all about flawless skin, natural-looking brows, a hint of rose on the cheeks, super glossy lips and center-parted hair with headscarves!
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s empowering Dior Fall Winter 2018 collection was of course, a treat to watch but the unique Christian Dior makeup looks were just as great. Eyes were lined on the lid as well as the water line with bright colors like yellow, pink and blue. I only wish they weren’t covered by the sunglasses that every model wore! But since the sunglasses come in trendy, matching shades, we’re not complaining either!
The smokey eyes has a new avatar for Fall 2018! Leave it up to Marc Jacobs and his makeup artists to come up with new makeup trends season after season. If you loved his Black Swanesque bold eye from Spring 2018, you’re gonna love this season’s fall makeup looks even more! I loved how all the looks were so matchy from head to toe. All the hair colors and eyeshadows were matched to perfection with the outfit! The eyes were glittery with a smudged effect, rest of the face was left nude and the colored hairstyles were short bobs.
Dolce and Gabbana
D&G traded their bright cherry red lipstick from last season for a darker brick red. To complement it, the rest of the face is pretty subtle except for a sharp cat-eye.
Philipp Plein’s Fall Winter 2018 RTW collection was super wintry and cozy with the runway made to look like a snow-storm and models walking on it wearing warm fur coats. The unique makeup looks from this collection had heavily lined and smoked eyes, false eyelashes and nude matte lips. Volumized bouncy waves was the runway hair of choice.
Coach proved that you don’t have to have brightly colored eyes to make a statement on the runway. Sometimes, just a thin flick on the eyes is more than enough! Similarly, the runway hair was minimal yet bold – flat, wet hair with thin braids.
The beautiful makeup looks at Fendi’s RTW fashion show were simple yet effective – flawless finish skin, thick brows and blush pink lips. And the runway hair’s center-parted and tucked behind the ears.
I’m a huge fan of Anna Sui’s runway makeup. Always have been and always will. I barely notice clothes ’cause the makeup is just that eye-catching. Don’t get me wrong, the clothes are great too, but the makeup is just something else. This time around, to tie in with her psychedelic 60s collections, the unique makeup look consisted of a basic cat-eye, a thick purple line at the crease, an orange to pink ombre below the brows and highlighted inner corners! To complement this unique eye makeup look by Pat McGrath, the hair was all swept to one side in undefined waves.
Yet another unique makeup look by Pat McGrath, it’s super futuristic and super cool. A bare face and specks of chunky glitter glued on the lips made up the runway fashion makeup at Maison Margiela. And the hairstyle’s a wet look, which seems to be extremely popular on runways lately.
The unique makeup looks at Olivier Rousteing’s FW18 show were all about the cheeks. A no-makeup makeup look along with rosy cheeks and some lightly textured waves comprised the runway makeup and hairstyles.
Another straight-off-the-runway idea for colorful eyeshadow looks is from Jason Wu at NYFW. This unique makeup look created by Thomas de Kluyver has two thin strokes of contrasting colors on the crease. Other than that, the rest of the face and hair are natural-looking and seem untouched.
Dries Van Noten
If you thought colorful eyeliners were cool, then check out Dries Van Noten’s makeup looks for Fall 2018, which had brightly colored mascaras! This fall eye makeup look was created by Peter Philips. The look also had a thin colored feather at the temple, starting at the scalp. From different colored mascaras to the feather hairstyle, the show had a lot of unique makeup ideas you can use as inspiration for your next party!
All about keeping it natural, the runway makeup look at Tod’s consisted of thick messy brows, nude eyes and pale glossy lips.
The fall eyeshadow looks at Roberto Cavalli’s Fall Winter 2018 collection were bold and edgy with a smudged liner at the waterline. And yet again, the hairstyle is slicked back and has a wet look to it.
With messy curls, a thin cat-eye and nude lips, I loved the simplicity and subtleness that Chloe’s Fall 2018 runway makeup had.
