Discover my 1950s style photo-shoot! I dress up in a raspberry pink silk evening dress for a Marilyn Monroe / Rita Hayworth inspired vintage party look!
Hey gorgeous! Welcome to 1953! This one’s a very special photo-shoot I did in collab with the very talented Neena Majumdar of Piamony Photography. This look is inspired by the 1950s era, vintage Hollywood beauties, including Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth. The late 1940s and early 1950s was the time of strapless silk gowns, ornate diamond necklaces and large, mermaid-style curls in long bobs and medium-length hair. Women had begun to popularize deep red glossy lips and long eyelashes.
It’s probably the most glamorous era in the history of fashion that still mesmerizes us all. So I wanted this fashion-shoot to be not just elegant, but also sensuous and romantic.
For this 1950s style outfit, I chose a deep pink, silk evening dress. It’s a gorgeous dress – knee length with an oversized bow-knot at the side of the waist, and ruched in the middle. I love it because the crushed raspberry shade suits my skin-tone and the silk looks very extravagant!
This photo-shoot was done at my mom and dad’s home so all the backdrops are designed by me. It was a lot of fun shooting this because I’m mostly laughing and smiling in my shoots, but this time, I wanted to emulate the sensuous expressions of particularly the 40s, playing with the hands and with expressive eyes.
So I really hope you liked this 1950s style photo-shoot, because it has taken us months of planning and lots of hard work. Also follow Piamony Photography’s Facebook page to check out more of their work. And I also hope it gives you plenty of inspiration for party dressing this holiday season! Do comment below and lemme know because I’d love to hear your thoughts. As always, keep it stylish!
