From bold ombre to subtle highlights – from the runways to celebrities – here are the top hair color trends and ideas for Winter 2016!
Hey gorgeous! Looking for a makeover? A new look? Changing your hairstyle or hair color is the quickest way to a whole new look! In Fall 2015, Winter 2016, so much more is in trend than just ombre. And even with ombre, there’s lots of new looks! Let’s check out all the top hair color trends for 2016:
Top Hair Color Trends for 2016
Natural Butterscotch Brown
The natural light brown or butterscotch brown is a great color if you want to play it safe and make your hair look very natural, without going ombré. The hair color is being seen a lot in Pre-Fall 2016 collections so it’s a latest choice. Here are two shades from Jason Wu Pre-Fall 2016:
Natural Blonde
In Winter 2016, it’s more trendy to mix the natural or dirty blonde with a darker, warmer color like medium brown like Gigi hadid here in Elle November 2015 photo-shoot:
Or Lily Rose Depp in a very, very subtle reverse-ombre – natural blonde to light brown, for Chanel eye-wear:
Classic Blonde
Here’s Lady Gaga in classic blonde hair color at the British Fashion Awards 2015:
Blonde with a patch of dark brown highlights:
Burgundy
Burgundy is one of the hottest colors of Winter 2016, and as a hair color, burgundy suits both lighter and Indian skin tones. Here’s Emma Stone in burgundy:
Yet another option for Indian skin tones can be an ombre hair color from darkest brown to burgundy:
Natural Dark Brown
Kendall Jenner was seen in the latest photo-shoot for Vogue November 2015 in this natural darkest brown hair color:
Top Ombré Trends for 2016
Golden Brown Ombré
Here’s another choice from the latest Fashion Week collections – the medium golden brown to natural blonde ombré. Here’s the hair color from Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2016 collection:
Brown to Blonde Ombré
The classic brown to blonde ombré is still very trendy! You can start the transition color anywhere from the half to three quarters of your hair length. Check out Gigi Hadid here from a Vogue November 2015 photo-shoot:
Bronde Ombré
Bronde hair color is still very hot from last season. In fact, it’s getting even trendier this season! You can try a dark or medium brown to bronde ombre hair color:
Emma Watson, Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss, Scarlett Johansson – it’s like every celeb is sporting this hair color these days! It was even seen in the Dior Fall 2015 collection – actually that’s more like an natural brown to bronde ombre:
Black to Grey Ombre
Grey is not my personal preference, because I’d rather try something that makes me look younger, not older! But some celebs are digging the black to grey look! Here’s Rihanna:
And Kylie Jenner:
Teal Ombre
Here’s yet another Kylie Jenner hair color – black to teal!
Purple Ombre
Purple is very trendy, and also gives a bold, mermaid look. I like this Cara Delevingne look in a grey to purple ombre with different shades of purple:
Here’s yet another example of purple ombre – purple to blonde hair color:
Top Highlights Trends for 2016
My favorite hottest trend for 2016 in hair color is a mix of highlights and ombre – which looks very natural but also chic: Here are a few examples:
Honey Caramel
I love Angelina Jolie’s honey caramel highlights subtly merging onto rich chocolate brown hair:
Blake Lively loves sporting hony caramel shades of hair. For her upcoming movie, she’s been seen in this mix of caramel lighlights taking over a sombre hair color that runs to natural brown:
Shades of Browns
Get ombre from dark to medium or medium brown – and add face-framing and back highlights in light brown like Selena Gomez here:
Pink, Cream and Blonde – Unicorn
Shades of pink and cream are also a nice choice if you wanna try bolg highlights, particularly if you wanna pair them with blonde hair, like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley here:
Shades of Purple Highlights
I love this trend – if you don’t wanna go full-on ombre – try purple or burgundy highlights on darker hair. This also looks great on Indian skin tones:
Or if you want it bolder, try this: Okay, those were the (many) top hair color trends of 2016! Which one is your favorite? As for me, I just gave myself a mix of highlights+ombre – natural dark brown to medium brown – with light brown highlights! Perhaps next month I’ll feel bold enough to try purple! Lemme know your preferences below!
