You will NOT believe how many compliments I received for this nautical boho look. Check out my beach maxi dress photo-shoot which is SO EASY to recreate!
Here I am with more travel fashion! This photo shoot is from the gorgeous Holloways Beach which is like a five-minute drive from Cairns, Australia. For this beach look, I wanted to create a boho-chic outfit, something relaxed and chilled-out, vacation or weekend-fashion of sorts.
Plus, I once more had a reason to create an outfit around my turquoise Jimmy Choo handbag using unusual combinations. So I chose a nautical theme, to go with the sea colors. That’s why I love this outfit so much, it seems like a mix of polished yet boho.
How I Created this Nautical Boho Look
Advert:
I paired unisex square Oakley Jupiter mirror sunglasses with navy and white frame to match my dress and give it a cool, polished look that balances the boho look’s contrast with the handbag. For jewelry, I chose a bunch of bracelets and rings. The bracelets are a mix of beads and semi-precious stones to match the colors, navy, turquoise, white.
My maxi-dress is basically two long strips of fabric attached to a skirt, that I can tie myself the way I want. So it creates endless possibilities. I tied it in a cross-backless halter-type thingie with a belt!
I styled the hair very simply in a side fishtail braid, loosely tied at the sides and back, and with an asymmetric poof. Plus the wind at the beach was blowing everything away, making it messier than it was already!
I also wore my signature statement necklace. I made this myself with cherry-colored pearls, blue Swarovski beads and pink Indian-agate beads. It is inspired by 80’s jewelry trends, specifically Madonna’s entangled multiple chain necklaces. Other references are subtle, with the differently sized beads, mix of different ornaments and the unevenly hanging chains and beads, it creates the illusion of many different chains and necklaces entangled. I call this necklace Muddlona (muddled Madonna) because it is unorderly.
Advert:
For the makeup, I wanted to create a glam evening look, with fresh-looking skin and a sculpted face. The lipcolor matches the necklace and the eyes are kepy falsie-free but well-defined, with navy, turquoise and pink smokey eye-shadow.
Isn’t this place gorgeous?
