Hey gorgeous! Lakme Fashion Week came to an end with Manish Malhotra Winter Festive 2017 finale show titled ‘Tales of Indulgence’. The collection was all about club-wear, evening and cocktail-wear for men and women.

The silhouettes in Manish Malhotra Winter Festive 2017 collection encompassed mini-dresses, gowns, lehengas and men’s suits. As it does in all Manish Malhotra collections these days, the color palette included a mix of light feminine pastels like pale peach, grey and beige, mixed with rich tones like burgundy, black and gold.

Just two weeks ago, I wrote all about how Manish Malhotra’s last collection at India Couture Week 2017 brought back a lot of trends we saw at Paris Haute Couture Week 2017 like feathers, capes and floor-touching sleeves. This new collection offers a couple more trends borrowed from the west. We saw sheer embellished capes paired with mini-dresses, ruffled capes and long thread-fringes on the shoulders. Overall, this collection made a big case for the sheer dress trend.

Bollywood actors Aditya Roy Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez were the showstoppers. Jacqueline wore an asymmetrically embroidered sheer gown, making it the first very, very see-through gown we’ve seen so far on Indian runways.

We’ve already been seeing deep-cleavage cut-outs in dresses and extreme cut-out tops on western celebrities. And now this – a sheer bustier through which the inverted cleavage peaks.

So far I’m not liking this trend. It’s sexy but looks a bit uncomfortable – like it would give the feeling a bra does when it’s too small for your size, you know! When you want to keep pulling it down. Or basically any bra does for that matter. Ugh, why do we still have to wear bras? When will they go out of fashion?! (SlubTeam agrees on this one. The inverted cleavage trend looks super uncomfortable. We can’t be the only ones who feel this way!)

Anyways, with the collection that marked 12 years of the Manish Malhotra label, the designer announced a new service that’ll allow customers to get made-to-order garments.

“This July, the Manish Malhotra label completed 12 years,” he said about the collection. “As we began a new chapter heralded by expansion and diversity in design, my closing show at Lakmé Fashion Week had for the very first-time presented bespoke suits for men. […] With this collection, we will also introduce a bespoke tailoring service at our stores in New Delhi and Mumbai.”
