I love how you can always tell a Versus Versace fashion show apart. It always has a very unique and daring aesthetic with some sporty elements thrown into the mix. This brand, which is targeted towards the youth never fails to amaze with their quirky and eccentric designs.
Donatella Versace described the Versus Versace Spring 2018 collection as, “A celebration of the essence of Versus in 90’s New York”. Everything from the backdrop to the music and clothes screamed 90s. The looks were very relaxed and summer-esque but still had that edgy Versus touch to them. But having said that, I felt that this year’s collection paled in comparison to last year’s in terms of boldness. There were also lots of similarities to last season’s collection such as the broad logo chokers and mismatched earrings.
The looks comprised T-shirt dresses, mesh dresses and vests, denim dresses, matching sets, sleeveless coats and jackets and chain prints. They were followed by color block dresses, geometric panels, swimwear, bomber jackets and sheer shirts.
In terms of accessories, we saw bucket hats, stacked bracelets, scarves, mismatched geometric earrings, broad chokers with the logo on them, square-toed shoes, tote bags, fringed bags, mini bags, studded bags and fringed bags. The square-toed shoes also deserve a mention. They were very refreshing to the eyes ’cause all I’ve been seeing lately is pointed-toe shoes everywhere! The color palette included colors like mint blue, neon green, silver, red, white, pistachio green, grey and black.
I quite like this 90s-inspired look which is reminiscent of Cher from Clueless. It consists of a checked skater skirt, printed top and a metallic jacket. Sandals with ankle straps and a scarf tied around the neck complete this SS18 RTW runway look.
