The first few looks included athleisure, head-to-toe black outfits with mini-dresses, crop-tops, zip-up jackets, crop pants and leather skirts. Graphic skirts, co-ord sets and sweaters came into the mix. Crimson looks were seen next – most looks were either monochromatic or two-toned, with athletic-inspired streamlined hems. Crop denim jackets and jeans were also seen. Overall, the outfits were fun and practical.
Accessories included cross-body bags, handheld medium-sized bags for women and backpacks for men. Men’s accessories also included keychains and beanies. Makeup stood out with bright and prominent eyeshadow. Jewelry included logo chokers and long, single earrings. The Versus logo was seen a lot – used on bag straps, chokers, shoes, waistbands and on underwear, too! Is this trend gonna be back? I’m not sure where I stand on this yet.
Shoes included booties and stilettos with chunky heels and broad ankle straps. More color soon came in – bright turquoise and neon pink with quilted jackets and fuzzy sweaters, plus a couple of silver metallic skirts and dresses. The last few outfits were a play onĀ textures and fabrics, with some evening outfits like metallic mini-dresses, aĀ sheer top and a long leather skirt with a thigh-high slit. I was pleasantly surprised to see that menswear was as interesting and not a thought-at-the-last-moment collection, as it sometimes tends to be in women’s fashion collections.
As the collection is meant to appeal to the young crowd, it’s well-fitted in the Versus brand.Ā āFashion has the power to send out a message of hope and unity, especially to the new generation. Versus is about passion, optimism and a fierce statement of equality,ā Donatella Versace’s message said on the website. And it was interesting to see her blend in – taking a bow (actually, more of a wave) in a black zipper mini-dress herself, paired with knee-high tie-up boots. So perhaps it’s not just the 20-somethings who can wear these.
