On the 20th anniversary of the death of her brother, Donatella Versace honored him with a spectacular and heartfelt collection. The looks were all either recreations or modified versions of some of his best and most popular designs.

The show opened with the classic black and gold baroque-inspired Versace print which made its first appearance in 1991 at Gianni’s Fall/Winter show. This scarf print was the most prominent in this collection, seen on dresses, skirts, pants and catsuits. Some looks even combined it with animal prints like leopard and snakeskin.

The show then moved on to exquisite all-black outfits with gold ornamental barocco embellishments. And some even had cowboy inspired details much like the Versus SS18 collection.

The next print featured was the ‘Trésor de la Mer’ print that was inspired by Gianni’s hometown by the sea. The print had starfish, shells, pearls and corals. Pastel and pretty, these looks were my favorite from Versace Spring 2018. Also, the embellishments on them were exceptionally beautiful!

Then came the butterfly ‘farfalle print’ from the 1995 collection, which was colorful and just as pretty as the previous one. Finally the iconic Andy Warhol prints with faces of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean came on dresses and catsuits. Kaia Gerber also walked the show in an outfit with a pop art Vogue cover print.

Accessory-wise, this collection killed it. Pleated skirts, printed leggings, chokers, studded shoes and scarves tied around the neck were the most common in the collection. From the trademark mismatched earrings to the gold jewelry with the embossed Medusa logo, I loved every one of them. Others included cowboy hats, headscarves, starfish jewelry, snapbacks, clutches, barrettes and belts with two buckles. I also loved how all the accessories matched the prints.

This truly memorable and nostalgic show ended with an appearance by the five 90s original supermodels who worked with Gianni. Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and familiar faces of the 90s wore gold sequin dresses for what’s possibly the most iconic runway moment of SS18 fashion weeks.
