The Versace fashion show was all about clashes and contradiction. Formal pieces were combined with casual ones, tartan with leather and sneakers with dresses. Versace FW18 gave me major nostalgia right from the first look. Plaid checks were all over the collection – on trousers, shirts, skirts, hats, bags, boots and even patched onto jeans. And so were the iconic Versace gold coin jewelry and the ornate scarf and animal print from last season. With pleated tartan skirts, over-the-knee socks, berets, mini handbag, leather biker jackets and lace-up booties, the Versace fashion show was very 90s meets rock ‘n’ roll. Primary colors comprised the color palette with an occasional all-black look coming down the runway. Fringes and tassels were also a huge part of the collection.
All the colorful looks from the Versace Fall Winter 2018-19 were accessorized with plenty of jewelry, as always, from coin and tassel earrings to leather bracelets and layered chains. And there were bags galore – mini bags, totes, slings, clutches, structured handbags and bags with chains worn around the waist. As for shoes, lace-up booties, slouchy tartan boots, colorful sneakers, platform Mary Janes and strappy fringed sandals were seen.
If I had to pick a favorite look from the Versace fashion show, it’d be the ones with plaid skirts and matching berets. I also have to mention Gigi Hadid’s second outfit of the show. A sequinned slip dress with multi-color tassels and tassel earrings to match! So much going on but so fun!
