From patterned fur coats to transparent ones, here are the 11 latest trendy winter coats every woman needs in her wardrobe for winter!
11 Trendy Winter Coats
1. Transparent Coats
While we’re seeing transparent fashion as 2018’s new trend, these type of coats are great especially for the rains as they are water-proof. Plus, they show off the clothes you’re wearing under them despite being a coat! I’m really loving this trend. Chanel showcased the clear and see-through trend with plenty of transparent coats and jackets in their show. Balmain’s long printed one was a show-stopper to me.
2. Pocket Play
On the runways, designers gave special attention and detail to pockets. Sequinned pockets, oversized ones and even pockets on shoulder flaps! Wonder what someone would keep in there. Anyway, this runway favorite is one of the most popular coat styles for 2018.
3. Light Coats
These trendy winter coats are exactly what their name suggests – coats in light fabrics. The perfect way to layer clothes for winter is by rocking a light coat! Wear a sweater inside your light coat, add on a scarf and you’re good to go! What’s more? Once Spring rolls around, you can just wear the coats on their own.
4. Sheer Coats
For those of us who experience summer-like winters (like we do), these coats are perfect! Out of all the ones on this list of women’s trendy winter coats, this one’s my favorite. Go for completely sheer ones like Fendi and Max Mara or try a hint of sheer like Ralph Lauren has opted for.
5. Oversized Coats
Borrow your boyfriend’s coat or buy one that’s twice your size! I’ve always been a fan of this trend. In fact, I own a couple myself. It should look like it’s big for you but at the same time, you shouldn’t be drowning in it. Take inspiration from the chic and trendy winter coats by Chanel and Ralph Lauren.
6. Statement Leather Coats
Statement coats were big on the runway for SS18. Unique, stand-out coats that make huge statements on their own and don’t need anything extra. We’re seeing leather coats with applique, fringes, cold shoulders, asymmetric zippers, full metallic coats and more. These coat styles for 2018 are so bold, they can dress up even the simplest of outfits. Or be an outfit just by themselves if you’re going to be spending a day outdoors!
7. Fur Coats with Patterns
What’s better than a warm all-over fur coat for the winter? A patterned one, of course! Fur was a popular trend for Fall but for Spring, we saw coats with fur patterns like stripes, animal print and color blocking. They look so snug and cozy, who wouldn’t want one of these coat styles for 2018?
8. Metallic Coats
From makeup to clothing, everything metallic is in right now. These coats are instant head turners. For a night-out or party, they would be perfect! If all metallic coats are not your thing, you could go for a plain coat with metallic accents. The most popular colors on the runways were pastel metallics and silver. And if you’re feeling bold, go for the holographic coats.
9. Fringed Coats
Fringes are no longer just for summer and Coachella. We’re now seeing them on all types of wintry coats too. Instead of last years’ boho suede and leather fringes, this years we’re seeing chain-link and thread fringes. From Chanel’s multi colored fringes to Naeem Khan’s tiered ones, this new runway trend is one of my favorites on this list of trendy winter coats for 2018.
10. Animal Print Coats
I never thought animal prints would become a popular trend again this year. Everything from cheetah print to tiger and zebra is back in style. We saw these prints on front open coats, calf-length coats and belted ones. Although animal prints are not my cup of tea, after seeing them all over the Spring 2018 runways, I wouldn’t mind trying them out.
11. Art Print Coats
Another comeback trend is the art print. There were a lot of types from abstracts to geometric to sea-inspired prints (my personal fave!) but the artsy floral prints were the most common. Ralph & Russo even had a metallic art printed jacket. It’s so abstract and pretty, I’m a fan!
