Hey gorgeous! It’s been a while since I wrote the trend forecast articles myself, but this fall is a special one. The research – going through all the designer collections from Fall 2018 ready-to-wear fashion shows as usual – got me so engrossed this season, that I decided I had to be the one to tell you all about these new trending clothes. I spotted so many exciting and fresh styles – some renaissance revival, and some contemporary appeal – these collections were a surprise once I delved in deeper.

For more of a background on how we forecast trends, I looked through more than fifty runway collections to research for this article, including FW18 RTW shows from Milan, Paris, London and New York fashion weeks. Moreover, I also take into account celebrity style and couture and other non-runway designer collections when compiling this fashion trend report. After that, just like every season, more than 30 trending clothes and styles are shortlisted to be in this list, which are then scored (yes, we actually score them) and ranked to make sure only those 11 fashion trends make it to this list that we feel we really need in our closets this year. Like we working women have limited budgets and closet spaces, we don’t need to shop everything. Right?!

So let’s jump right into these gorgeous trends I’ve been romanticizing!

11 Latest Fashion Trends for Fall 2018-19 | Trending Clothes

1. Deconstructed Tuxedo

While it was just last fall that I was criticizing fashion designers in my video for being too late to bring suits on the runways, this year I can’t be happier to report that suits are not just trending again, but we’re even seeing women’s tuxedos as the #1 style of trending clothes of the coming season. 2018’s ladies’ tuxedos are not just gonna be the feminine versions of the traditional tux. But they’re deconstructed and reconstructed with new elements, styles and the fabrics and silhouettes are played with.

We saw a lacy tuxedo gown, a velvet tux jacket paired with shorts, a white tux, and even a tuxedo jacket paired with a fringed skirt. Plus, I’m also loving the idea of Zuhair Murad’s tasseled tux jacket worn over a lacy bralette. Perf for the next New Year’s Eve party outfit! 2. Victorian Sleeves

While the #1 trend is all about post-modernity, the #2 trend, on the contrary is all about borrowing vintage classics! Victorian and Edwardian sleeves are taking over the fashion world like a storm. It was only the next natural step after statement sleeves being so popular all of last year. They include flouncy, draped types of sleeves – both full and half, seen on trending clothes like coats, dresses, gowns and even button-ups. Try Juliet, bishop and leg-o-mutton sleeves.

3. New Look Waistline

One of my favorite clothing trends for Fall 2018 is the statement waistline. The “New Look” was the name the then Harper’s Bazaar gave to a bar jacket silhouette that Christian Dior had in his first ever collection in 1947. With a cinched-in waist and puffy, exaggerated hips, this design is back with a bang this year. Funnily enough, we didn’t find this in one of Dior’s FW18 collection. Try the new-look waistline in jackets, corsets or dresses.

4. Three Dimensional Silhouettes

Why take a square foot if you can take a whole square meter? Maybe with trending clothes and outfits getting crazier and showier on celeb’s Instagrams, designers felt the need to go all out with the silhouettes. We saw plenty of large ruffles, puffed and flouncy sleeves and frills, large feather applique – the more spacious the better. As if our closets were getting any emptier! For me, storing just one of those Christian Siriano’s Dilophosaurus-inspired dresses would mean throwing everything else out (except maybe a pair of matching shoes)!

5. Chic White Shirt (Worn the New Way)

Either the shirt itself is statement-maker, or it’s a classic, but worn in a statament-making way. But no matter what the case is, 2018 is gonna be the year of the white shirt. We saw so many button-up shirts on the FW18 runways, and the white collared blouse was the most popular by far. From patchworked, embellished, ruffed, lacy peasant or embroidered to shiny metallic, we saw it all. Pair them with skirts, metallic pants, or even a high-low skirt to create a gown like Ralph & Russo’s!

6. Tucked-In Sweater

Who said you can skip working out in the winter? Well, those days of skipping the gym after Halloween are over, ’cause the fall-winter season is all about being fit and showing your flat, toned tummy even through sweaters. Actually, gymming-problem aside, I’m quite loving this trend. Tucked-in and belted sweaters give a more modern, clean look. Tuck them into jeans, skirts or under a skinny belt.

7. Leather on Leather

Denim on denim of the 2016 has given way to a bolder trend – leather on leather. Forget pairing a leather jacket with jeans or a black leather skirt with satin. This fall, it’s gonna be all about head-to-toe leather outfits. Matching sets, leather jackets with leather skirts, shorts and crop leather pants will be the It-thing. Even try color blocking with leather by mixing colors, like pairing black with burgundy or brown.

8. Pagoda Shoulders

It’s no secret that shoulder pads are making a huge, huge comeback this year. But the trend within this trend is pagoda shoulders. In case you don’t know, they have a convex line with an elevated outer edge. We saw them on sweaters, dresses, jackets and dresses. So basically, everywhere.

9. Corsets

Bustiers and corsets are the latest inner wear-inspired trend to rock. While I was hoping wearing sports bra would become trendier just by itself, but no, the fashion designers are hell-bent on making us girls look more feminine and curvy. Anyway, if it’s of any solace, you can wear corsets over tee-shirts or sweaters, too, and skip the bra. Okay, I’m sold!

10. Statement Pantyhose

Pantyhose are gonna be just a little extra this coming winter. No, a lot extra. Try metallic leggings, printed and lace tights. You can wear them with shoes that can typically not be worn in the fall, like mary janes, platform heels or pumps. Try tiger prints, embellished, striped or checkered to create a real statement.

11. PVC Dresses

Like Kim Kardashian‘s transparent plastic boots weren’t enough, this Fall Winter 2018, we’re even seeing more and more designers get behind the PVC or plexi trend. We saw mini, midi and even gowns made out of plastic. Some trending clothes are just better left to the runways only. So I’m not trying PVC dresses for the sake of letting my skin breathe. Thank you. Of course, that’s why Coco would say to me, “Fashion knows not of comfort!”
