Wondering what to wear this summer?! Well, we have listed the top styles that you should rock in 2018. From outfits to accessories, check out the latest trend setting fashions here!
Hey gorgeous! It’s almost summer here in Chennai! Of course, in this part of the world, the entire year is the same. But surprisingly the end of 2017 was so pleasant that I had to dig into my winter closet. But well, before I could rejoice the cozy weather, the sun’s already out! So, back to tank top and loose trouser days. Now I can’t wear that everyday to work so just like you, I’m so curious to know what are the latest SS18 fashion trends.
We went through all the designer collections from the Spring Summer 2018 fashion weeks and analyzed the new trends. You can also check out the fashion trends SlubAnalytics both part 1 and part 2 to know all the trends we spotted in each designer’s collection. And we rounded off the top 9 trends that are in this year. Okay, I won’t keep on blabbering. Now let’s check out the latest fashion trends for 2018!
SS18 Trend Setting Fashions
1. Transparent Accessories
Transparent accessories are on the top of the list this year. We saw transparent coats, shoes, hats and jewelry. Though plastic may seem uncomfortable on the skin, designers are not interested in comfort. Well, even celebs like Kim Kardashian and Selena Gomez have sported these transparent accessories. So everyone’s making them a spring fashion thing this year. The jewelry and hats are something you can give a try if you can’t handle PVC clothing in the scorching heat.
2. Men’s Inspired Shirt Dresses
Shirt dresses are hardly new but men’s inspired shirt dresses are getting tons of attention this year. These dresses redefine the regular shirt dresses. These men’s inspired ones have an androgynous touch and give I-don’t-care-look! And they make great summer outfits for women. We saw shirt dress with sleeve detail by Alexander McQueen, plain long shirt dress by Maison Margiela, asymmetrical shirt dress by Oscar de la Renta and Versus Versace and a striped strapless shirt dress by Victoria Beckham as the hottest trend setting fashions. Now I know what to wear when I have nothing to wear! 😉
3. Mesh Dresses & Tops
Sheer dresses have been in fashion but instead of tulle, georgette and transparent cotton, designers are eyeing on mesh this year. Black mesh dresses and tops are on my list for sure! Tank tops, slouchy tops, off-the-shoulder dresses and gowns were seen. Try these sexy outfits for parties, casual outings or dinner dates. In fact, I would love for my SlubTeam mate, Nishita to write about mesh dresses outfit ideas.
4. Blade Sunglasses
Blade style sunglasses have made their way into the trendsetting fashions this year. From mirror style to rectangular ones, they all are super hot. This spring, sport them to bring out the retro-fashionista in you!
5. Slouchy Dresses
Well-fitted dresses are so outdated! Slouchy dresses are so in. I still can’t make myself believe that designers opted for slouchy wear. These dresses aren’t too loose or oversized but are just an extra size bigger than your actual size. We saw maxi dresses, dresses worn with pants, midi, metallic and shirt dresses in trend setting fashions for 2018.
6. 80s Shade Crop Boy Jeans
We’re glad the 80s fashion is making a comeback. Of course, it was also the era when jeans started to take the center stage. And the icy blue shade is always a classic one that never goes out of fashion. The cropped style is something we all are drooling over. Get set to rewind fashion with these cool crop boy jeans. We also spotted them on celebs like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid.
7. Scarf with Knot Detail
Forget the chokers and pick up the scarf girls because Spring 2018 collections were full of this stylish accessory. This is one of my favorite fashion styles. A tiny scarf is tied around the neck with a knot. Contrast-colored scarves were tied around the neck in the looks by Chanel and Tods. A matching scarf was worn in choker style in one of the looks by Versace.
8. Half Sleeved Jackets
Half sleeved jackets have been super trendy since last year and are continuing to rule the runways in 2018, too! We’re not complaining at all. We saw appliquéd half jacket by Dolce & Gabbana, denim jacket with pockets by Givenchy and a leather half sleeved jacket by Moschino in SS18 fashion trends. These jackets are perfect for the transition seasons like spring – not too heavy but light enough to keep you warm.
9. Two Tone Trousers
At the fashion weeks, we also spotted this ridiculous trend as one of the SS18 fashion trends. Double colored pants or two-tone trousers were seen in the Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein collections. These may be head turners when celebs wear it to events or parties but on any regular day, they would look bizarre!
