Recently released, Wednesday has caused a commotion among Gen-Zers for the off-beat fashion sense of the Addams family throughout the series. For everyone who loves goth fashion or has their wardrobe covered with black, Wednesday is the show for you guys. Creative and experimental use of black in various ways, be it in the form of dresses or even school uniforms, this show has done it all.

Although, if you aren’t a black ensemble fan, Enid Sinclair (a character from the show) has major colorful and bubbly fashion inspo. Her wardrobe ranges from Pink hues to Monday Blues, showing us the amalgamation of two different styles. While black can be a monotonous color, it has never looked better on the runway, thanks to Rick Ovens and Balmain Fall/ Winter 2022-23 collection. While the old Gossip Girl series ruled the styles of their time, the reboot version of the series with characters that keep up with the shenanigans of this generation is here to rule the Gen-Z era. From oversized shirts worn as dresses to wearing boots as a powerful fashion statement, this show is the epitome of Gen-Z college aesthetics. Not to mention, this show also brings out the quirky and eccentric side of Gen-Z fashion like wearing a flashy sequined orange bodycon dress to a party.

While this show might not have the old Blair Waldorf’s confidence Serena van der Woodesen’s fashion sense, it has its own peculiar fashion moments like Julien Calloway’s leather pant outfit or oversized shirt and boots uniform or Zoya Lott’s LBD and tweed blazers or Although this show is still at its initial stages, it won’t be long until it takes over the runways of designers.

Based on a popular comic throughout the 2000s, Archie Comics, this show revolves around four teens that are hustling to navigate life and facing hurdles. Apart from its uncanny storyline filled with dungeons, murders, and mind-boggling twists, this show is known for the revival of the varsity jackets among us. Almost every college student or otherwise is seen wearing a varsity jacket making it the new cool among Gen-Z making it a must-have for college these days. Not to mention, the characters have a varied fashion sense ranging from the sophisticated styles of Veronica Lodge to the soft girl styles of Betty Cooper, mixed with the Badass red vibes of Cheryl Blossom.

The outfits worn by the characters exude confidence, like Veronica Lodge in her semi-formal V-neck dresses or Betty Copper in her pastel sweatshirts. And lastly, I’d like to thank this show for introducing us to beanies. Although no one can pull them off as well as Jughead(played by Cole Sprouse), one can always try. The varsity jackets made such a buzz so much so that they were seen on the runway during Abloh’s final autumn/winter 2022, Versace SS22 collection thereby making it a street style essential.

“Like wearing poetry” – Emily

Just like the quote, Emily in Paris is known to dress its characters to the nines. From extravagant little black dresses to perky Parisian fits, this show is versatile in its fashion. One of the famous outfits of this show was when the main character, Emily, was dressed in off shoulder black cocktail dress which was compared to the LBD worn by Audrey Hepburn. The show was famous for changing the perspective of Parisian fashion which is otherwise known to be sophisticated and elegant.

Emily is known to add an American touch to Parisian fashion by pairing the French beret with quirky prints and color-blocking outfits. The difference in the fashion of two different worlds amalgamating together can be seen through the styles of different characters’ dresses in the show. But for those who’re looking for Parisian style or a modern version of Tomboy fashion, look out for Camille’s simple yet classic outfits. Her cropped pinstripe blazer or her short checkered dress is her way of paying tribute to the simplicity that is French fashion.

It’s because of all the different characters’ styles like Emily’s friends and colleagues, the show’s fashion is really trending right now. A city known for its fashion, Emily in Paris truly gives us a fit check and fashion tips to stand out in Paris.

The Regency era was known for its intricately designed gowns and perfect silhouettes that enhanced the body shape, keeping this in mind, Bridgerton can’t bring back the era, but it brought back the fashion, which is now its own popular aesthetic on TikTok, and we’re calling it royalcore!

From plain to embroidered, there are so many gowns in the show yet you will never grow tired of it. The comeback of Regency fashion has made corsets famous among today’s generation. In an attempt to achieve the desired body shape, corsets have made a comeback in the form of tops and in different shapes.

The surprising fact is that corsets are not only prevalent among women today but men also wear corsets, unlike the Regency era. Although set in 1813 London, Bridgerton or regency dresses are even designed today by some of the top designers like Marc Jacobs in his Fall 2020 collection or Loewe’s Spring 2020 collection. As the show progresses, not only the storyline but the costumes get better with the seasons too.

With the popularity of OTT platforms increasing at a rapid pace, TV shows are here to stay for decades to come. They tend to have a massive influence on us not only in terms of fashion but largely on how we shape our lifestyle. So it all comes down to what we take with us from these beautifully stitched stories that have become a part of us now.
