The world is becoming global, and of course, fashion leads the way in mixing trends, being inspired from different cultures and taking the best of everything. As we know, fashion trends never remain constant. This year, Indo-western kurtas are definitely statement makers in ethnic wear. We’re seeing these kurtas designed with different trends and colors to give a fresh and stylish look. And it’s certainly a must have item for every Indian woman’s closet this season.

We saw Indo-western kurtas both at Lakme Fashion Week and Amazon India Fashion Week 2017, on the runway collections of all our favorite designers – Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Payal Singhal, Jayanthi Reddy and more. This year, we also saw Indo-western kurtas. The traditional kurta has taken on a new avatar, with new designs and western-inspired asymmetric styles. We’re seeing one-sided sleeve, long kurta with center or side, high-low, off-shoulder and pre-draped dhoti style. We’re spotting them in a variety of fabrics from cotton to silk to crepe, perfect for every season.

Everyone is sporting these – from celebs to fashionistas, and you need one too – for your office to party needs. For office, go for a neutral-colored cotton kurta in high-low or center slit style, and pair it with matching or white chooridar or trousers. For a party, choose an embellished one-sleeved or asymmetric Indo-western kurta, and team it up with patiala pants or palazzos. Add a box clutch and matching strappy heels.
