Especially when it comes to weddings, college farewells, formal occasions and family functions, saree is the first choice for every Indian girl. Sarees suit every body type, every age, and can make you look hot and yet traditional! It really makes us feel proud to be an Indian when we don this beautiful garment. And not just us, but even celebs, even Hollywood celebs love to try sarees.

1. Pale Nude
Wow, western wear is really inspiring saris in 2019. Nude is the number one shade among latest saree color trends for this year. Out of all the nude shades, we are seeing pale nude the most on celebrities as well as in fashion weeks. We saw pale nude colored sarees in the collections of nearly all top Indian fashion designers. Here is a beautiful sari in ash nude by Falguni and Shane Peacock with sequins and feather details.
Manish Malhotra‘s latest couture collection had this gorgeous sari in nude shade with red and pink floral applique. This would be a great idea for an engagement party.
Shilpa Shetty wears this beautiful sari gown by Tarun Tahiliani. She can rock any color, but of course, leave it to the sexy diva to rock the trendiest color of this year. I’m so glad to share her name!
I am loving this beautiful nude colored sari by Sabyasachi in chanderi silk. This whole look is really beautiful, with the statement choker and sunglasses, with the 90s lipstick – very retro yet modern.
Shyamal and Bhumika went for this pale rose nude color for their appliqued saree. This would be a great idea for a garden party or a birthday party.
Ritu Kumar uses the rose nude color is well in her collection. This belted sari with an off-the-shoulder blouse would be perfect if you’re going to a fashion show or a fancy gala.
2. Wine & Ruby Red
Red sarees really never go out of fashion. And in 2019, wine and ruby red, both are among the top saree color trends. Starlet Sara Ali Khan wears the beautiful sari gown in scarlet by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla with a high slit and churidar pants.
Deepika Padukone wore a ruby red colored silk sari by Sabyasachi for her wedding photo shoot. She paired it with matching red lipstick, cat-eye makeup and a statement choker.
Suneet Varma‘s latest bridal collection has this gorgeous saree in wine bread and ruby red ombre. The model here pairs it with a diamond choker and off-the-shoulder ruffled blouse. This would be the perfect choice for a bride for her wedding reception or karwachauth.
Sonakshi Sinha is also in on the red sarees trend. Here, she wears a ruffled saree in ruby red by Arpita Mehta. Great idea for your anniversary dinner.
I’m all for this beautiful sari in wine red by Ritu Kumar. This velvet sari is paired beautifully with the gold kundan choker and bangles.
Shyamalan Bhumika’s ruby red sari is any girl’s dream. The plain net saree with an embellished pallu makes a big statement, and would be a pretty choice for a wedding or fancy kitty party.
3. Ivory
After the bright and bold reds, we are back to the light shades. Ivory is one of the top sari color trends for 2019, and we spotted this color in the saree collections of all top fashion designers. Suneet Verma‘s latest collection had this gorgeous saree in ivory and gold, perfect for a modern bride.
Abhishek Bachchan‘s sister, Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, wears this gorgeous ruffled ivory saree by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. She pairs it with a heavily embellished blouse, which looks perfect for a plain saree.
Leave it to the stylish Kareena Kapoor Khan for rocking the year’s latest saree color trends. Here she pairs an off-white sari by Manish Malhotra, with a cropped embellished blouse. Such a simple yet elegant look and she rocks it with oomph!
Who said light colors are just for wedding guests? Deepika Padukone was the most unconventional bride with her ivory and gold sari that she wore at her own Mumbai reception. Her groom, Ranveer Singh, also matched his sherwani with the same colors. Deepika paired her heavily embroidered ivory saree with a matching, floor-touching dupatta and a heavy gold choker. Ivory can be a great choice if you’re looking for something really unique on your wedding day or reception.
Latest couture collection by Rohit Bal had plenty of looks in ivory with pink flamingo motifs. We are loving this gorgeous modern saree, which will be a perfect idea for a family function or college farewell.
Tarun Tahiliani designed this beautiful ivory sari gown, whose blouse is a cutout bodysuit with chain embellishments. I love this contemporary look, perfect idea for a black tie event or wedding cocktail.
4. Blush Pink
While all the pink shades are timeless, like blush pink is the trendiest among all the sari color trends for 2019. Sabyasachi designed this beautiful chiffon saree with floral print, and the model pairs it with velvet blouse in midnight blue, and a matching choker. This would be a beautiful idea for a wedding sangeet, or your friend’s wedding.

Here’s another idea for blush pink saree by Anita Dongre.
I’m loving this beautiful embellished sari in blush pink by Shyamal and Bhumika. Again, they have designed a plain sari with an embellished pallu, the rose and leaf motifs give it a gorgeous garden look. This will be a great idea for college farewell or Diwali, paired with matching bracelet and choker.
Bollywood celebrity Kangna Ranaut wears a pretty blush saree in net with a silver sequin blouse. The sari has a sequinned gradient at the bottom and rose embroidery along its border. She creates this perfect look by pairing the designer saree with a choker and a silver rani haar. This gorgeous look can be a good choice for Teej, religious ceremony or griha pravesh.
Deepika Padukone also tried the blush pink sari trend, when she wore this beautiful sari with a rose print in one of our TV appearances this year. She paired the satin sari with a net embellished blouse and jhumka earrings. The poufy hair and mauve lipstick complete the look.
Sonam Kapoor tries a lighter shade of blush pink with warm tone. Her chiffon sari has thread work and a delicate sleeveless blouse, which would suit day parties and kitty parties.
5. Sky Blue
Next on the list of our saree color trends is this beautiful shade that would suit any skin tone. While we saw midnight blue and navy in some designer collections, but sky blue is the top blue shade among all the latest saree color trends for 2019, as we saw it in major designer collections, such as Gaurav Gupta, Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani.
Here is a net sari in sky blue by Anita Dongre paired with a sleeveless blouse. This would be a great idea for a wedding sangeet or mehendi function.

This gorgeous bride wears a dress by Gaurav Gupta. I’m loving the drape and embroidery, and she proves that sky blue can be the perfect bridal color for engagement or even reception. Pair it with blue eyeshadow and nude or pink lipstick.

Gold and silver are both trendy this year. But pale silver is the hottest metallic shade among all the top saree color trends. Let’s start with Shilpa Shetty, who wears this sexy saree gown by Falguni and Shane Peacock, with beads and rhinestone embellishments and an off-shoulder blouse.
I love the saree design idea by Manish Malhotra. This pale silver saree is definitely very 2019 and very modern, with its fringed blouse and illusion neckline. The thin border also has fringe detail on its pallu and the saree is plain, while the pallu is has self embroidery design on it. This would be the perfect idea for your best friend’s wedding or your cousin’s wedding cocktail party.
Here, Kangana Ranaut wears a silvery gold saree by Tarun Tahiliani. She pairs it was a sheer blouse that has embroidery on the wrist, resembling a cuff or bangles. She pairs it with pearl choker necklace and silver eyeshadow. This would be a great idea for family function or Diwali.
This sari with feather details by Falguni and Shane Peacock is one of my favorites among all the sarees I’ve shown in this article. It’s from 2018 couture collection and is paired with a veil and a cropped blouse with a horseshoe neckline. This net saree would be a great idea for a bride on her engagement or roka ceremony.
Jacqueline Fernandes wears a bright silvery white saree by Manish Malhotra, with thread work and crystal detailing. She wears it with a strapless blouse. This is a bold look, but if you’re trying to make a statement, go for something like this for your friend’s wedding or cocktail night.
7. Light Powdery Pastels
Pastels are one of the top fashion color trends for 2019, both in western wear and Indian wear. We are seeing light powdery pastels as one of the top saree color trends this year, in top designer collections. Shades like ivory, pale silver, blush and nude are something we’ve already talked about. But other powdery pastel colors like light grey, pale yellow and powder blue are also very chic right now.
Let’s start with pale yellow, which is a unique choice since many women don’t usually try this color. But Aishwarya Rai proves it can be especially fashionable for any occasion with her belted Sabyasachi saree.
Here’s one more by Anita Dongre, paired with a strapless blouse.
Here are two saree designs by Shyamal & Bhumika in powdery pastel shades, powder blue and pale lilac. I’m loving both of these designs with their applique borders and sleeveless embroidered blouses. Great idea for your cousin’s wedding or for mother of the bride.
Here is a Manish Malhotra saree in net with an embellished border in very pale peach. Great idea for college farewell or Indian day at your office.
Jacqueline Fernandez tries another pale color. This light purple saree is a great idea for evening parties or weddings, as she pairs it with a cape, which can make a great statement.
8. Two Tone Sarees
Two tone sarees are really making rounds among the top designer collections in 2019. Here Kajol wears a two tone saree by Manish Malhotra, the saree is in midnight blue and the pallu in burgundy. She rocks it with a mismatched choker. This is a very simple look but the pallu embroidery makes a big statement, perfect for a wedding or engagement party.
We also saw two tone sarees in Shyamal Bhumika’s collection. Here’s one with a burgundy velvet border and saree is in a nude metallic shade. I love the diamond pattern on the saree, which is plain with an embellished border. This is a great idea for a wedding. Pair it with a matching bracelet and costume earrings.
Here’s another design for a two-tone saree by the same designers. This one has an ombre gradient on the bottom of the saree in green, and the pallu is in light green with wine colored border and embroidery. Beautiful choice for a family function or your sister’s marriage.
Jahnvi Kapoor proves that two-tone saree design doesn’t just have to be pallu vs. pleats. She wears a green sari with turquoise gradients. The saree has has shades of lime and dark green and a gold fringe border and the blouse is in forest green.
Here’s another saree with a different colored pallu by Tarun Tahiliani. Raveena Tandon wears a peachy nude colored sari with a black pallu, gold embellishments and border. She pairs it with a diamond choker and head piece, great idea for your niece’s wedding or engagement party.
Here Anushka Sharma wears a similar saree design in midnight blue and blush pink by Sabyasachi.
9. Black
Last but not the least, black is an eternally fashionable color for any garment and that’s no different even in 2019. This year, we are seeing full black sarees, and black sarees paired with different color blouses. Here is one by Manish Malhotra, a black saree with fringe and ruffle details, paired with a light yellow embroidered blouse with red and yellow floral details. Bollywood star, Diana Penty, walked for Siddhartha Tyler in a black embroidered sari with a satin sleeveless blouse for Lotus India Fashion Week 2019.
