And you gotta look good for those IG selfies, right! Afterall, that’s partly why we wear matching lipstick and earrings!
Latest Saree Blouse Designs for 2019
Forget those boring aunty-type saree blouse designs. This year, rock some embellished backs and illusion necklines. Cause the saree blouse designs are getting more and more attention in 2019. Manish Malhotra even introduced us to multi-media designs that combine feathers with sheer panels and billowy sleeves.
So let’s take a look at all the saree blouse trends for this year that we’re seeing on the runways and on Bollywood celebrities.
1. Full Sleeved & High Neck Blouses
Full sleeved + high neck is the #1 trend in saree blouse designs for 2019. We saw so many designers like Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani and Falguni Shane Peacock include this style in their collections. Try sheer or embroidered sleeves. Here is the designer cropped blouse with full sleeves by Falguni and Shane Peacock. It has a horseshoe neckline and sheer sleeves. Perfect for cocktail parties.

And we saw this blouse style on many Bollywood celebs like Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut and Sara Ali Khan just in the last couple of months. Deepika wore a full sleeved white blouse with a high neckline for her wedding picture. She paired it with a gold sari and a beautiful choker.

Sabyasachi
Full sleeved saree blouses are also trendy with sleeve embroidery. Take inspiration from Deepika as she pairs a red blouse with a white diamond pattern saree. The blouse has gorgeous neck and shoulder embroidery with a lot of work on the sleeves.

Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla
Kangana Ranaut wears a sheer full sleeve blouse, again with work on the sleeves. This is a great idea for when you want to show some skin but not too much. One of the unique saree blouse trends is to have the front part embroidered and leave the sleeves plain.

Tarun Tahiliani
Sara pairs an embroidered crop blouse in a modern, glam way with the sari with a high slit.

Abu Jani
It’s perfect for the winter/spring season, and also for destination weddings. Either go for sheer sleeves, get interesting bead-work done on the sleeves or just a plain blouse that looks royal/ khandaani!

Sabyasachi
2. Saree Blouses with Embellished Back Design
Designer backs in saree blouses give the look a secret seductive touch. I love blouses with designer backs. Go for embellishments, threadwork or sequins, rhinestone-studded ones. Here, Kriti Sanon wears a gorgeous silver blouse that has cut-outs and sequin embroidery on the back. It looks like a perfect idea for your best friends reception or a fancy gala.

Manish Malhotra
Madhuri Dixit’s illusion neckline blouse is the epitomy of beauty. Here, Manish Malhotra combines two saree blouse trends together – illusion neck and designer backs!

Or add a large brooch in the center. Loving the design by Tarun Tahiliani below.

3. Beaded Fringes on Saree Blouses
Fringes are back in sarees, but this time, they’re adorning the blouses. We’re seeing tiny beaded threads on the sleeve-hems, all over the blouse or just on the off-shoulder neckline. This is one of the saree blouse designs that’ll add a glam dynamism to your look – as it shimmers and moves when you move!

Manish Malhotra
For the extra glam factor, try beaded fringes all over your saree blouse. Combine them with other saree blouse trends such as ruffles or off-the-shoulder.

Tarun Tahiliani
Here’s another idea for saree blouse design with saree top panel and cap sleeves, with tiny bead fringes on sleeves and hemline.

Tarun Tahiliani
Another one with the similar blouse design, but with longer sleeves.

4. Capes
Capes are becoming more and more of a celebrity favorite in 2019. And why not! After all, they add lots of elegance and a western touch to the saree. Capes are also a great choice if you want to go for a strapless blouse but want a cover-up for the evening. Here, Deepika wears a floor-touching sheer cape over a strappy bikini saree blouse. Go for an embellished neckline a la Deepika and you can skip the necklace!

Deepika Padukone
Ponchos are back, too, which you can wear both inside or outside the pallu. Sheer ponchos are a great idea. Match them with your saree blouse and border.

Deepika Padukone

Jacqueline Fernandez
Feel that a sheer cape or poncho is too bold for you? You can also go for a slight varioation of this trend – cape sleeves. These are butterfly-style, that give the illusion that you’re wearing a cape, when actually you’re wearing just a simple saree blouse.

Shyamal Bhumika
You can also try a short, hip-length cape over your saree blouse and pallu.

Sonam Kapoor
But mostly, the long, front-open capes are making a big statement among the top saree blouse trends.

5. Illusion Neck
For the uninitiated, illusion necklines are those that have a sheer net panel above the neckline, to make it seem more low-cut than it actually is. This sheer panel often has rhinestones, crystals or other embellishments that seem to just float on your décolletage! I love these saree blouse designs, as you can wear them with a traditional saree, but still rock a gown-like look.

Tarun Tahiliani
Illusion neckline is also a great way to wear risqué saree blouse designs. For example, you can use this style to add straps.

Manish Malhotra
For an extra glam look, use collared top sheer panels over a strapless saree blouse.

6. Strapless Saree Blouses
Strapless bandeau blouses are back for 2019. Did they ever go out of fashion? I think not! Anyway, celebs from Shilpa Shetty to Jacqueline Fernandez are wearing them. When you’re in the mood to show some skin, try this blouse design. Add a belt or ruffles to make it trendier.

Manish Malhotra
Or you can go for a bustier-style saree blouse. It’s a great idea when you want to show off your cleavage or just want a sexy look.

Shantanu & Nikhil
Strapless blouses are a great idea to pair with plain sarees, as they can make a bold statement on their own. So they can be perfect for simple occasions like fancy tea parties or exhibition openings. One of the most common problems girls face when wearing strapless tops or blouses is that they tend to slide down. Obviously! So be sure to wear well-fitted blouses and pair them with a strapless bra that fits well, too.

Manish Malhotra
Wondering what to wear to a fashion show? Strapless blouse designs are a great idea for glam occasions like fashion shows or black-tie events. Pair it with matching drop and dangle earrings and stilettos.

Anita Dongre
In 2019, lots of celebs are wearing strapless blouses with a sheer saree, which is a very showy look. You can also add a poncho or cape over them if you want the option of a cover-up.

Manish Malhotra
7. Off-the-Shoulder Blouses
If you don’t want to bare too much in a bandeau blouse, go for off-the-shoulder saree blouse designs. These look really sexy and you can make it short straps or full off the-shoulder sleeves. Also try bead fringes or belts with off-the-shoulder blouses for a statement look.

Ritu Kumar
This trend is also a great idea to wear to glam events like fashion shows or black tie events. You can also try a loose off-the-shoulder strap with your blouse. For a modern, western-inspired look, go for muted color palettes, like nude, grey, cream or beige.

If you don’t wanna show extra skin, try elbow-length sleeves with your off-shoulder blouse. This could be a cool idea to wear to a family cuntion, college farewell or office party.

House of Masaba
For a more covered up look, try a high-draped pally that doesn’t reveal much skin.

Tarun Tahiliani
Off-the-shoulder saree blouse designs can go with any type of sarees, from embellished to threadwork to plain or printed ones. You can try a plain blouse with a printed saree, but it’s also trendy to go for an embellished blouse with a plain or bordered saree.

8. Strappy Blouse Design
Thin straps are the trendiest type of sleeveless blouses for 2019. We’re seeing this style in every designers’ collection and all the celebs are rocking this style. I especially love Aishwarya Rai’s simple but contemporary strappy blouse worn with a belted Sabya saree. It’s such a minimalistic design, paired with a muted colored saree with a muted print. It seems like a great idea for daytime weddings or kitty parties.

Sabyasachi
Try pairing blouses with thin straps with trendy, embellished sarees if you want to go the extra mile. Feathers, fringes and saree-gowns are some ideas we’re seeing on celebrities in 2019.

Falguni Shane Peacock
Shilpa Shetty is perhaps the only Indian celebrity who tries the trendiest styles of Indian sarees and all sorts of saree blouse designs. Here, she pairs a strappy silk blouse with a sheer, embellished saree that’s adorned with thread fringes. It would be a great idea for an Indian-themed night out with your friends.

Tarun Tahiliani
For a simpler look, here’s an idea for college girls for a farewell party or office parties. Deepika Padukone wears a very elegant white and green print saree with matching blouse. All you need is a matching neck piece and you’re good to go!

Sabyasachi
One trouble I have often faced with thin straps is that they tend to slip off the shoulders. So I would recommend getting silk threads sewn to your blouse that can be tied into a knot at the back. Go for traditional drop and dangle embellishments on them to match your saree. Strappy blouses are a great idea to wear, if you wanna show off your necklace. Here, Anushka Sharma wears a beautiful matching choker.

Sabyasachi
Strappy saree blouse designs are a good idea for events like your cousin’s engagement, or your friend’s reception. Pair with matching jhumka earrings and clutch. Go for a chignon or loose curls with it.

Shyamal Bhumika
9. Sheer Sleeves
Full or three-quarter sheer sleeves are quite trendy. In 2019, we’re seeing Bollywood actresses like Madhuri and Raveena wearing sheer sleeves. So it’s perfect for elder women or those who don’t want to wear sleeveless blouses, but want a chic look. Go for sleeve and neck embroidery and pair it with an ethnic choker to complete your saree look.

Tarun Tahiliani
You can go for embellished sleeves with sequins, rhinestones or crystal work. Here, Madhuri Dixit wears a full-sleeved blouse with a sheer saree.

Tarun Tahiliani
10. Embroidered Blouse with Plain Saree
The perf way to amp up a plain saree is to go for an embellished or embroidered designer blouse. Statement saree blouse designs are perfect for half and half or plain sarees. Here, Anushka Sharma wears a half-net half-velvet saree with embroidered border. And she pairs it with an embellished blouse, which is a beautiful, striking combination. Perfect for Diwali or friend’s wedding.

Sabyasachi
Try a matching color, or go for a contrasting one. For example, Kareena Kapoor wears a matching embroidered blouse on a plain ivory-color saree.

Manish Malhotra
If there’s one embroidered blouse I’d want to wear out of all these, this is the one. Designed by Sabyasachi, this beauty is perfect for Instagrammers! With botanical motifs such as lilies, leaves and birds, this elbow-length sleeved blouse is a perfect match for a plain saree. It could be a great idea for a religious ceremony at home, meeting your in-laws or a formal event at college.

Sabyasachi
Wanna give your old saree a whole new look for an upcoming occasion? A contrasting color blouse is a good idea as an alternative. This way, you can reuse your wedding saree, or your mom’s old saree!

Manish Malhotra
11. Bikini Style
Last but not the least, the strappy crop blouse has given way to yet another summer trend – the bikini style saree blouse designs. Blouses are getting shorter and skimpier, and retro-style bikini tops are great for those who want to make a bold entrance! Try Sophie Lauren inspired low-cut neckline to flaunt your décolletage! This is inspired by her 1950s style dresses.

Shyamal Bhumika
Or try 50s style spaghetti straps, which are enough to make a big statement. You can go for a low cut neckline. But if you want it to not be so revealing, just ask your boutique or blouse designer to go for a sweetheart neck with bikini straps, which has more coverage.

Manish Malhotra
The bikini style saree blouse designs are a great idea to pair with spring-summer-themed sarees, like with floral applique or prints. Great for outdoor garden parties.
