The collection titled ‘Hiraeth’ is a tale of travel and transcendence, inspired by “the old textiles and their sublime leitmotifs,” the designers wrote on their official Facebook page. “The spirit of the collection is of longing and desire, to hope and rediscover, to lose one’s own, to regain the self in the process”.
The fashion show was presented with Bollywood actress Yami Gautam as the showstopper.
The silhouettes included lehengas with sleeveless blouses paired with sheer dupattas, embroidered long gowns with cut-outs and floor touching dresses with draped dupattas. Menswear included sherwanis and bundhgalas with slits paired with dupattas and slim pants.
This collection was a riot of motifs – the French Paisley, Raj-era Manchester prints, Arabesque cartouches and flowering trellises, graphic geometrical forms from Uzbeki Suzanis, Byzantine mosaics, the Palampore “Tree of Life”, Mughal miniatures, towering minarets, birds and beasts were used by the designers in their collection. The color palette included a wide range of shades from ethereal ivory and antique gold to earthy marsala and midnight blue.
Here are two of my favorite looks from this collection – a cream embroidered long gown and a vibrant red lehenga with bird and floral motifs paired with a blouse and sheer dupatta.
