Wedding lehenga need not be a once-used prized possession anymore! Discover our list on how to reuse wedding lehenga here!
Hey, gorgeous! The wedding lehenga holds a very special place in every girl’s heart as it’s worn on the most special day of her life. But we hesitate to re-wear as we feel it may be too much for any event where we’re not the bride! So, it ends up in our closet forever.
Being married recently and having numerous weddings to attend, I wanted to reuse my wedding lehenga. So, I asked Shilpa to give tips on restyling my wedding lehenga as I didn’t want to repeat my outfit. (I know, none of you would want to!) After a quick brainstorming session, going through our list of the latest – 2017 lehenga trends and keeping wearability in mind, we jotted down few interesting ways to reuse wedding lehenga. Let’s check them out.
Slub Tips:
- You can reuse wedding lehenga by styling it differently for each occasion and to create a new outfit each time.
- You once were the demure bride, but now show some skin by pairing them with a sexy top. Try plunging neckline, backless choli or a crop top.
- Don’t shy away to try creative ways to style your wedding lehenga as an Indo-western outfit.
- Shilpa’s pro-tip: Wear your wedding lehenga if the bride is okay or else you will steal the show.

Restyle & Reuse Wedding Lehenga
1. Wear Your Wedding Lehenga with a Long Jacket
Lehengas with long sheer jacket are super-trendy! This outfit is ideal for a late night occasion like reception night. You can also ditch your choli and bridal dupatta if the jacket is heavily embroidered. Plunging neckline is also a great option to try!
2. Style with a Sheer Poncho
Sheer ponchos are hot and will glam up your look. You can get a matching sheer poncho, or reuse your wedding dupatta and stitch it into a poncho or pin it up around your shoulders like a poncho.
3. Lehenga with a Cape
Play up with your choli and stitch a cape from the shoulders with your wedding dupatta. Or you can go for a contrasting sheer fabric to create a whole new outfit. Be minimal with your jewelry and either let your hair down or tie it up in a bun.
4. Drape Your Lehenga Dupatta
Combine the cape and poncho trend and you will have a new outfit. Drape your dupatta from back and pin it up in the front. Choose a light weighted and simple dupatta as you don’t want to overload yourself too much. It’s simple yet elegant outfit to carry off.
If your wedding dupatta is too heavy and you want to reuse then, go for a simple long skirt and blouse.
5. Lehenga as Saree
Lehenga as a saree is the coolest way to restyle your wedding lehenga. Drape the dupatta as saree covering the choli. For a bold look, pair up a belt too like the look by Anamika Khanna.
6. Beautiful Kaftan with Lehenga
Kaftans are simple and graceful. For pre-wedding celebrations like mehendi or sangeet, wear your lehenga with a plain or metallic kaftan top.
7. Choli with Plain Skirt
Look effortlessly beautiful by pairing your choli with a plain skirt. This outfit is ideal for a sangeet as you can let your hair down and dance! Go for a matching color-blocking skirt in silk or tulle. If you’re feeling bold enough, you can also pair your choli with matching high waist pants and a crop bar-jacket.
8. Turn Your Lehenga Into a Lancha
A long top or kurta with lehenga looks stunning. It is a savior if you have gained weight and don’t want to look heavy! Go for an embroidery or a solid-colored top, depending on how heavy you want the outfit to look.
9. Fringe Top with Lehenga
Fringes look alluring and a metallic fringed top with your lehenga would make a stunning Indo-western outfit. You can wear it to weddings or pre-wedding celebrations of your close friends!
