The Reincarnations Show from Artisans’ Centre collection at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 was a collection of five designers, which had five different collections from the designers. The concept of the collection was recycled fashion – to use the old fabric and non-biodegradable materials and turn it into new items like clothes, accessories and footwear. The designers mostly took hints from urban Indian women. The most interesting thing about the collection ‘I Was a Sari’ presented the fashion from recycled saris using the reuse and upcycle techniques – as mentioned in the fashion description.

I loved the recreation of old saris into a cool pajama suit. Now who thought the old worn out saris could make a style statement? The two tone asymmetric poncho by ‘The Stitching Project’ made a trendy statement! The outfit from Gaury Pathare’s ‘Wandering Whites’ had unique accessories like exotic huge neck pieces and arm/finger rings. Perhaps just experimental, because it didn’t look wearable.

My favorire looks from the collections are the appliqué detailed poncho by Shubhi Sachan and beads detailed top by Smriti Dixit.

Overall, the concept of recycling has gotten decent head-start in fashion, where this collection helps the end-consumer realize that it can be wearable and chic, too.
