Hi Shilpa !

I’m getting married in November this year.
Would be extremely thankful to you if you can guide me to the latest trends in ethnic, indo-western and suits for men.
Do keep in mind that I would like the stuff to be comfortable, classy and something that I can wear again.

Thanks a lot in advance !

Regards,
Rohit

Hi Rohit! Congratulations!

We’ve just published an exclusive article just on groom’s wedding outfits for 2016, so do check that out:
Wedding Outfits for Men: Sherwanis, Suits for Indian Grooms

If you’re getting married in November, the best time to shop for it would be September/early-October, because most stores keep adding new styles every couple of weeks. Here are some of the latest trends we are seeing in Indian menswear for grooms:

Indo-Western and Classic Suits:

Embroidered suits are very trendy right now, which bring an ethnic touch to the western-wear. However, I don’t prefer them much, because they don’t look as classy as a simple tuxedo or suit. If you want to try them, go for a suit with a velvet lapel in a darker or contrasting color. Burgundy, midnight blue, navy and wine are the hottest colors in suits right now.

Suits, whether they’re Indo-western or not, are great if you want something that you can wear again after the wedding. You can even wear just the jacket on someone’s sangeet with jeans!

Sherwanis:

One-sided asymmetric embroidery and all-over embroidery are both in. Botanical motifs and grometric patterns are trendy right now, and the latest colors for Autumn 2016 are black, gold, red, grape, navy and deep sea green. Pair your sherwani with trousers, dhoti or chooridar.
If you want to wear your sherwani again, go for a light-colored one with all-over embroidery or a deep-colored one with asymmetric embroidery to balance the richness of the outfit. You can even pair a light sherwani with a heavy stole for your wedding, and then re-wear it with a lighter stole later.

Bundhgalas:

They’re basically sherwanis but way shorter – with hemlines ending just below the hip. Pair them with trousers or chooridar. Bundhgalas may not be preferable because they’re not exactly comfortable, but they have great reuse value!
