Yet the designer showcased a casual yet dignified collection at New York Fashion Week. Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 show started with a model coming down an escalator, walking the perimeter of the floor that was the ground level of a glass building, and then walking back up the other escalator. Almost like an empty office or mall.

The collection was well-suited – starting with loose, casual and white silhouettes fit for the chic and modern woman. But still very Oscar de la Renta, very polished and instantly lovable!

The looks consisted of mini shirt-dresses with extra-long sleeves, skirt sets, denim on denim outfits with crop jackets and crop jeans. Bar jackets were seen often, along with mini skirts or crop pants. Culottes, light coats, casual dresses and sheer mini dresses followed. The color palette widened to include bright pink, cherry, sunny yellow, nude and black.

The show gradually moved to evening wear. And by gradually, I mean, literally gradually – mixing evening wear with casual pieces. These few looks really were the defining ones of this collection in my opinion. Sheer dresses were paired with very casual jackets and metallic sequin slip dresses were worn with oversized bar jackets.

My favorite look was this tee-shirt cocktail dress, which was a black maxi with pockets and a top tee-shirt panel.oscar-de-la-renta-spring-summer-2018-ss18-collection-rtw (35)-tee-strapless-dress

Evening wear included glittery cocktail dresses, embellished gowns and layered tulle dresses with gradients in red, blue or pink with white. Absolute feast for the eyes! Overall the collection was fresh, very spring-summery, and it was as chic as it was wearable. Definitely all that we expected from Oscar de la Renta!
