From basics to statement-makers, discover the 6 men’s summer fashion essentials from Saint Laurent 2017 collection, how wear them and where to shop!
Hey handsome! Men’s summer fashion is all about comfort and attitude. For 2017, the cool new men’s clothing styles not just help you show off your toned bod but also let you express your personality.
The latest men’s summer fashion trends have a youthful, almost rebellious vibe, yet with a nonchalant attitude. Isn’t that an ironic combination, yet so attractive? The collection that showcases this spirit perfectly is the Saint Laurent men’s Spring Summer 2017 collection. And it’s so well-fitting because designer Anthony Vaccarello drew inspiration from Saint Lauren’t heritage, evoking a modern interpretation of refinement and rebellion.
That combination of “refinement and rebellion”, sophistication and unruly defiance, almost yin and yang (as I said before, an ironic combination) is what set legendary designer YvesSaint Laurent apart. The French couturier was a visionary who redefined classic elegance and pushed the boundaries of fashion. He was the first to introduce a ready-to-wear line in 1966. His clothes were an expression of spirited elegance, blurring the lines between couture and street style.
This year, Saint Laurent’s covetable range of wardrobe staples, including staple leather jackets, bomber jackets, skinny distressed denim, and slim suits elevate iconic silhouettes with impeccable tailoring, premium materials, and thoughtful details. Embroidered patches, colorful patterns, and textural finishes express the spirit of the time by transforming the season’s most coveted pieces.
Let’s take a look at some of the key fashion trends for menswear Spring Summer 2017 we spotted in this collection:
Men’s Summer Fashion Essentials for 2017
1. Skinny Jeans
You can’t imagine a youthful wardrobe without a pair of jeans (or rather, many). But jeans can’t just be bought once or so in a decade (unless you want to be spotted in last year’s style of jeans)! The latest jeans trends include ripped, skinny and cropped jeans. Extra long jeans are so out. We’re seeing white, classic denim, dark denim and black skinny jeans.
2. White Sneakers
The athleisure trend in men’s fashion is still going strong. Whether it is Friday dressing or weekend outings, traveling or just hanging out with your friends for a drink, a pair of trendy yet comfy sneakers is a must have in men’s wardrobe. Both male celebrities and runway models have been sporting white sneakers, and there are so many different styles to choose from. You can go for a pair of all white shoes, or get something with metallic accents. Or you can try ones with patchwork or embroidery details. Pair them with solid-colored tees and jeans or shorts.
3. Casual Graphic Tees
Men’s casual fashion isn’t complete without tees. Aside from the perennially favorite solids, cool graphics on T-shirts are a total must-try this season. We’re seeing some quirky as well as simple classic graphics on designer men’s t shirts for Summer 2017. From animals to texts to cars to lips to clever doodles, there’s so much to choose from, so go for one that shows off your persona. I’m personally loving the Saint Laurent Blood Luster black tee shirt.
4. Backpacks for Men
Backpacks are the It-bags you need to be carrying with your casual and semi-formal outfits this season. The backpacks that were seen in 2017 designer collections for men’s fashion include a lot of different styles. For semi-formal outfits try plain leather backpacks in black or other neutrals, or some cool pastels like sky blue. For casuals, go for metallic or graphic backpacks for men. Patchwork backpacks and those with designer logos are also trendy.
5. Square Sunglasses
Sunglasses, in general, don’t change their trends as quickly as other fashion items do. And even when they do, we sometimes spot retro, nostalgic trends. This year, men’s square sunglasses are what we have on our radar. Both sleek and broad frames are being seen in all designer collections. Saint Laurent men’s collection has some truly cool styles, reminiscent of rock n’ roll’s most iconic styles. Silver shimmery, classic black, sleek metallic and rich white frames are my favorites. Mirrored frames and oversized square sunglasses are unmissable – they’d be the perfect finishing touch to your outfits this summer.
6. Bomber Jackets
Inspired by the classic design of jackets for military pilots, these casual flight jackets can be both lightweight and heavy. The lightweight bomber jackets are a summer essential, and there are many styles we’re seeing in men’s fashion collections. You can make a statement with metallic aviator jackets, sheer or patchwork ones, or you can just rock a casually trendy leather or plain one. The Saint Laurent men’s bomber jacket in black is possibly the most popular one these days – spotted on countless celebrities including Justin Beiber, Niall Horan of One Direction, John Legend, and many more. Wear one over jeans and tee, or sport one over your work formals on weekdays.
