Hey handsome! Indian weddings are always high energy gala affairs. The wedding season has started and there is no shortage of invitations that pile up on your coffee table. And everyone loves attending these weddings. The best part about them are the colors, food, and fun! But amongst all this, the first thing that pops up is, “What to wear to them?” Isn’t it true?
You want to look your best and steal the show while sporting something that’s comfortable! So I went through all the designer collections from India Couture Week and Lakme Fashion Week and came up with the latest trends for men’s Indian wedding outfits. Let’s take a look!
Latest Men’s Indian Wedding Outfits for Winter 2017-2018
1. Bandi
One of the most elegant casual separates worn for different ethnic occasions. Bandi is a waistcoat that can be worn with a plain, patterned, embroidered sherwani. Pair it with matching or colored chooridar pants and jootis.
2. Kurta Under Sherwani
Kurta under sherwani? Yes! We saw designers experimenting with the two different looks and combining into one! This season, we saw sherwanis with plain, embroidered and contrast kurtas paired with palazzos or cigarette pants and dupatta. Wear them to receptions or engagements. I’m liking the Manish Malhotra one!
3. Velvet Sherwanis
This year we saw plain and all over embroidered velvet sherwanis in the collections of Anita Dongre, Manish Malhotra, and Rohit Bal. Velvet is a super trendy fabric this year. I’m loving the plain velvet sherwani paired with contrast pants by Anita Dongre.
4. Bundhgala
Bundhgala is a very elegant men’s wear with a high neck collar and button placket. It could be a short one just below the hips or even a longer one until the thighs. Pair it with loose trousers or chooridar. Great option to wear to your friend’s or sister’s engagement ceremony.
5. Brocade & Embroidery Suits
Indian suits have the same style as the western suits. And this year, we saw brocade and embroidery suits with different fabrics like velvet and cotton. Great option to wear it to your cousin’s reception.
6. Cigarette Pants
Cigarette pants are a timeless classic but this season, they are making waves in the runway collections. They are perfectly fitting ankle length pants that can be paired with kurta or sherwani. We saw them paired with plain, printed and asymmetric sherwanis. I’m liking the sheer asymmetric sherwani paired with cigarette pants by Manish Malhotra!
7. Asymmetric Jackets
Asymmetric jackets give a stylish look to any ethnic outfit. This year, we saw asymmetric jackets paired with crop, casual and chooridar pants. Pair them with sandals and shoes and wear them to pre-wedding ceremonies or dinner parties.
8. All Over Embroidery
Forget all those embellished sherwanis and try kurtas with all over embroidery, which is the latest trend for this season. We saw motifs including small and large flowers and even a cockmotif. These sherwanis can be long, thigh-high or knee-length paired with cigarette pants. Wear it to sangeet or mehendi functions.
9. Dhoti or Palazzos
Dhotis are back, but this season, we’re seeing a brand new trend in menswear – palazzo pants! Palazzos have typically been womenswear seperates but now it’s time for you to give ’em a try too! Pair with long sherwanis to make an unfogettable statement!
