Small cakes are easy to bake as the ingredients are less (less whisking!) and the prep time, too. If you’re having a craving for something sweet, baking a small cake is a perfect idea. From small cupcakes to the basic pineapple cake, check out our favorite & the most popular recipes for small cakes!

1. Small Cupcakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • One cup white sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Half bar chocolate
  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

If cupcakes weren’t small enough, there’s a smaller version of cupcakes, too! These are too cute to handle. They make a great food for kids parties. And adults, too, find them irresistible! There are different cupcake flavors to try but the basic cake flavors for cupcakes – chocolate and vanilla – are timeless. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Mix 125 g butter and sugar in an electric mixer or whisk it until creamy. Add 2 eggs one at a time and beat it after each addition.

In another bowl, mix one cup of all-purpose flour, half tsp salt and one tsp of baking powder, baking soda and sift into the butter mixture gradually. Pour 2-3 tbsp of milk and vanilla essence and mix it. You can make two varieties with this mixture. The first half for plain vanilla cupcakes and the other half chocolate vanilla cupcakes by adding unsweetened cocoa. I usually use Hershey’s. And fill in the mini muffin tin with paper cases. Bake the cupcakes in the preheated oven for 12-13 minutes. Remove from the oven once cooked and transfer it on a plate to cool down. This can serve upto 10-15 mini cupcakes.

Mix half cup butter and icing sugar until creamy and smooth. Melt half bar of chocolate by double boiling to add to the mixture. Transfer the buttercream into a pastry bag with a nozzle and top it on the cupcakes.

The classic pineapple cake is everyone’s favorite. You can try normal pineapple cake or upside down cake, too! The thing with pineapples is you can’t have too much. And that means you will have leftovers. So, a small pineapple cake is a great idea to bake. In fact, after cupcakes, one can try this simple yet easy beginner’s recipe.

In another large bowl beat two eggs and add to the flour mixture. Stir in flour and pineapple and pour it into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake changes its color to brown. Transfer to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely. Sprinkle confectioners sugar and serve it hot.
