Hey gorgeous! I know it’s February, and I know you have to go shopping. And I also know that I’m already late in bringing the latest Spring Summer 2017 fashion trends to you. But all I can say in my defense is that these trends have been months in the making (or researching). I’ve been through the Spring Summer 2017 ready-to-wear collections of all the designers again, and again, and again to predict the trends for shoes, all sorts of accessories, gowns, hair and makeup and what not. And it’s finally time to reveal what kinda clothes to buy – just in time for your new-season shopping trips!

So let’s take a look at what our wardrobes will need filling up with next season:

Trend Forecast: Spring Summer 2017 Fashion Trends

1. Prints

Solid-colors have been dominating the luxury fashion market for years, making prints the stuff of classless, “poor” fashion! But prints have found their way amongst the Spring Summer 2017 fashion trends as Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Valenino, Versace and more designer brands have incorporated them unabashedly into their latest collections. We saw small multicolor prints, artsy patterns, thematic prints and even mixed patterns.

2. Athleisure

Athleisure came into the list of latest fashion trends last to last year, and it’s going stronger than ever. In fact, athleisure has even given way to its own spin-off trend – luxury loungewear. This trend started with just pairing athletic-inspired pieces like track pants with the wardrobe staples like tees. But now we’re seeing athleisure becoming more relaxed, casual and made purposely for travel and everyday wear – shorts and track pant-sets, sporty jackets and striped jogging pants. Mugler even had a sports-bra inspired top for an evening look. Pair the trendy athleisure wear with heels, sandals or of course, sneakers.

3. All White

Black and white are the classics that’ll never really go out of style. And we already started seeing so, so many head-to-toe black outfits last year. But this season, we’ve been seeing even more head-to-toe white outfits. Design houses like Chanel, Fendi, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana came up with skirt suits, casual wear, pant suits and jacket sets with white accessories to match. Play with textures and fabrics in the same shade of white or same undertones to pull of this tricky trend!

4. Art on Fashion

Art and fashion have always had an undying bond. Afterall, fashion is an art in itself. But for Spring Summer 2017, art will be on display on your outfits. Exotic patterns, urban-inspired, and abstract art – all were seen on dresses, jackets, separates and even accessories. Italian medieval art and landscapes were used as the art themes for Valentino and Alice+Olivia respectively. Dior had handmade art all over the gowns made with sequins, Roberto Cavalli came up with tribal art and Rahul Mishra had flora and fauna.

5. Metallic Shine

From clothes to accessories, metallics are all over the runways this season. Whether you’re looking for casual or party looks, you can’t escape these shiny dazzlers! So make them a part of your wardrobe because we saw metallic dresses, pants, crop jackets and metallic shoes, too! Read more about the Latest Metallic Dress Trend.

6. Luxury Nightwear

Just as athletic clothing inspires athleisure, this year, we’re seeing nightwear inspiring luxury nighwear, too. Pajama stripes, slip dress lace, nightgown satin and nightwear prints were seen in the collections of some of our favorite designers – Moschino, Chanel, Fendi and more.

7. Matching/ Co-Ord Sets

Again, this trend is something we’ve been seeing since last year. It just doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Design houses like Moschino, Chanel, Max Mara and Versace had collections concentrating a lot on matching or co-ord sets. With skirts to match the jackets, or leggings to match tops, or skirt-top sets, they had them all.

8. Sheer Skirts

Sheer tops and dresses have already been a trend in the last few seasons. Come SS17, we’re seeing a new way of layering – see-through skirts worn over knickers and boy-shorts. While it seemed like an unwearable trend last year, we’re more than willing to explore how to take this style to the streets and parties now. We saw them paired with jackets, bodysuits and peplum tops. Looks like sheer skirts will be the new way to bare legs this year – replacing short-shorts.

9. Floral Appliqué

It’s spring and sure enough, we’re seeing flowers in fashion. And we’re not complaining. What’s spring without a healthy dose of flowers? Instead of last year’s big flowery prints, this year we’re seeing bunches of flower appliqué details on the looks – three-dimensional bouquet, garden or flower-creeper-inspired appliqué amongst Spring Summer 2017 fashion trends.

10. Statement Belts

Belts can never really go out of fashion. But in Spring Summer 2017, we’ll be seeing statement belts that are used not just to cinch the waist in or give structure to the look, but also to complete the look and add character. The top four belt trends we’re seeing are metallic belts, tie-up belts, matching broad belts and exotic designs.

11. Ruffles

Both ready-to-wear and couture collections had ruffles in them. Frills and wavy draping was seen too. In the casuals, we saw ruffle tops and dresses. Also check out: How to Wear Ruffle Dress, Ruffle Accessories and More

12. Extra Long Sleeves

Sleeves that go on forever are a weird, and sometimes unwearable trend. Some design houses like Dior and Chanel had sleeves that just ended at the tips of the fingers, others like Prabal Gurung and Cavalli had floaty fabrics making up super-long sleeves that added dynamism to the looks.

13. Logo

Wear your favorite design house’s logo proudly on your outfits as ateliers of Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY and Gucci had placed their logos prominently on their looks. We found them in some unique, unexpected places too. Dior had its logo on bra straps, waistbands, clutch handles and shoe straps. DKNY had it on waistband and bralette straps, too. Dolce & Gabbana took inspiraiton from travel to have logo tees and slippers, and Gucci had its logo on bags. Also check out: Luxury Clothing Logos are Back in Trend for 2017
