Hey gorgeous! Weddings are the best time to go on a shopping spree, especially brides-to-be and the guests who wanna look stunning and wear something trendy for wedding occasions. And it’s obvious that everyone wants to look gorgeous and sometimes deciding on that perfect outfit becomes quite challenging! And I know you must have already started dreaming and planning for your wedding. But before that, here’s something super important for you to go through.

So I researched through all the latest lehenga designs from Amazon India Fashion Week and Lakme Fashion Week 2018 to compile this lehenga trends forecast report. Let’s take a look!

Latest Lehenga Design for 2018

1. Belted Lehenga

Belted lehenga trend is catching up fast, especially during this year’s wedding occasions. This season, belts on lehengas are in vogue and give a sophisticated look. If you want to make a real statement, belts are a perfect idea. They look chic and make you look slim. In fact, adding a belt to lehenga helps in holding the dupatta in place. Also, a good, matching belt will give structure to the silhouette and make you look rich and classy.

2. Floor Touching Sleeves

Tired of wearing those boring sleeveless and full sleeved lehenga blouse designs? Worry not! Floor touching sleeves are the hottest trend this season and create a statement look. I’m just in love with this trend. And we saw sleeves with totally plain fabric or sheer embellishments that gave an amazing look. Also, one-sided sleeve slit kurtas or crop cholis with floor touching or long trail lehenga are big show stoppers.

3. Front Slit Kurta with Lehenga

Designer lehengas with slit kurtas are a cool addition to your wedding wardrobe. And a very smart yet chic way to slay in style is by pairing front slit kurtas with lehengas. To make your look sexier wear floor touching kurtas with lehengas. You can also wear this without a dupatta for an elegant style statement. And this season we are seeing ankle length and floor touching front slit embroidered and embellished kurtas paired with lehengas. Try this lehenga design for engagement parties.

4. Jacket Lehenga

This is the most trending style in designer lehengas these days. Sometimes, lehengas are kept simple because the jacket takes all the attention. Bored of carrying dupattas with lehengas? Jacket lehengas are a great option! This season we saw matching or contrasting jackets on the latest designer lehengas. Jackets can be hip length, knee length or ankle length with heavy, embroidered or simple and delicate paired with lehengas.

5. Tiered Lehenga

The best thing about this style of lehenga is that it would work well for all body types. Lehengas with multiple layers or with just two layers look classy and stylish. We saw embellished, bordered and plain lehengas paired with high neck, off-the-shoulder and cut-out sleeveless cholis. Wear them to your mehendi or sangeet.

6. Long Choli

Long lehenga cholis are super in right now. This year, long cholis are making a trendy fashion statement. We saw cholis with embroidery and embellishments paired with floor touching and long trail lehengas on the runways of Rahul Mishra, Reynu Tandon, Tarun Tahiliani and Ridhi Mehra. For a chic, modern spin, ditch the dupattas. I’m loving the Ridhi Mehra one!

7. Pastels

Gone are the days of wearing bright reds, golds and magentas at weddings. Subtlety is in! For the bride-to-be and the guests at the wedding, pastel-colored lehengas are the new obvious choice as they tend to soften your look. And there’s something about these pastel hues, that add an amazing and dreamy feel to weddings. We saw pastel color shades of powder blue, blush pink, light sea green, peach and lilacs. Pick your favorite!

8. Off-the-Shoulder Cholis

The glamour of off-the-shoulder cholis has been always outstanding. So it’s time to show off those toned shoulders this season because the off-the-shoulder choli is effortlessly stylish! And if you’re bold enough to wear the off-the-shoulder choli, then you will steal the show for sure. Off-the-shoulder choli can be paired with a sheer dupatta or poncho. Great option for your own engagement, reception or BFF’s wedding.

9. Thread Work & Zardozi

Gotta patti, mirror work and dabka are out!

This season, we saw lehengas with both thread work and zardozi on them. Zardozi embroidery work with gold and silver threads on lehengas add a lot of grace and beauty to the outfit. It is mostly meant for the bridal lehengas for the weddings. Whereas thread work lehengas give you a really simple and sophisticated look. Great idea to opt for the zardozi, for brides-to-be and ones who want a subtle look can go for thread work ethnic lehengas with threadwork.

10. Ruffled Sleeves

Ruffles are one of the most amazing trends in fashion, also one of the hottest trends in cholis. We saw choli sleeves with layered, loose and over-sized ruffles paired with embellished, embroidered and plain lehengas. I’m loving this latest lehenga design!

11. Western Inspired

This is another designer lehenga trend that has been classy and popular for the last few seasons and it’s not going away anytime soon. We saw cholis with shoulder cut, plunging v-neck, feathers, full sleeved and strapless that are cropped but nearly touch the waistband and of a high-waisted lehenga. Perfect for sangeet or friend’s engagement. I’m liking the lehenga design by Manish Malhotra!
