Latest Indian Gown Designs for Spring 2018
1. Capes & Ponchos
Capes and ponchos are still trendy as ever! Embellished and sheer embroidered capes are one of the hottest trends of this year. We saw them in long trail and floor-touching gowns. Lace and appliquéd ponchos were seen, too. I’m liking this embellished cape worn on top of the long trail gown by Varun Bahl.
2. Sheer Gowns
Sheer gowns are both romantic and alluring! It has been one of the top gown trends this season and is still hot. From Manish Malhotra to Shyamal & Bhumika to Tarun Tahiliani we saw embroidered, sequin, ruffles and one sleeved sheer gowns. Great idea for cocktail parties and fashion events.
3. Saree Gowns
Saree gowns are completely hassle-free outfits, combining the elegant Indian saree with the rich style of western gowns. The trendy saree gowns are a great option for engagements and cocktail parties. I’m liking the Monisha Jaising one!
4. One Sleeved Gowns
The one-sleeved gown trend is here to stay! From Monisha Jaising to Gaurav Gupta to Ruceru we saw loose sleeves, shoulder cut-outs, plain and embellished single sleeves. To look more stylish, just go for a one-sleeved gown with a side slit. Perfect for a friend’s engagement or cocktail parties.
5. Poofy Layering
Layered gowns are very trendy this season. The hottest style right now is poofy gowns with layering at the bottom. We saw poofy layered gowns with plunging V-neck, strapless, metallics, foil print and appliqué. I’m loving the Shriya Som one!
6. Gowns with Monochrome Embroidery
Gowns with monochrome embroidery? You heard it right! Now it’s time to give a break to all those colorful or contrast-colored embroideries and try these monochromatic gowns. We saw strapless, collared and off-the-shoulder, metallic and pastel-colored gowns with matching rich thread embroideries. Wear it to evening parties or your friend’s reception.
7. Statement Shoulder Gowns
There is so much happening with the shoulders this season. Statement shoulder gowns are so trendy right now. Off-the-shoulder, ruffled shoulders and puffy shoulders were seen. You can wear them to your friend’s engagement or try them for night parties.
8. Metallic Gowns
We saw metallic colors like gold, silver and bronze in the Indian gown designs for this year. From subtle to embellished ones, one shoulder with slit to mermaid gowns, there is one for every occasion. Perfect for the cocktail parties.
9. Gowns with Long Trails
Long trails look so romantic and are the best choice for brides on their wedding or engagement who want a dramatic, unforgettable entry. We saw long trails on different types of Indian gowns from bralette bodice to collared ones. The trails went from just a foot behind the model to spanning a whole staircase! Perfect idea for sangeet, weddings and other occasions. I’m just loving this gown with a long trail by Manish Malhotra.
10. Floor Touching & Knee Length Sleeves
Tired of wearing those boring sleeveless and full sleeves? Worry not, ‘cuz extra long sleeves are a thing this season!! Floor touching or knee length sleeves surely create a statement. Such an amazing trend! We saw loose asymmetric, slit and pleated sleeves loose below the knee and even those that go to the floor. Great option to wear it for cocktail or evening parties.
11. Gowns with Jacket
Indian gown designs with jackets are very much in vogue this year. Embellished, plain, embroidery and appliqué fabric gowns paired with beautiful matching or contrast jackets were seen. The latest jacket gowns give an amazing look and work best for winter weddings. I’m liking the full sleeved denim jacket paired with appliqué lace gown by Manoj Agarrwal.
