Hey gorgeous! Whether you’re a bride, a wedding guest or a party goer, a gown is a necessity in every wardrobe! Gowns make a definite statement and can be worn for different occasions. From fashion shows to weddings, there is one for everything to look sexy and elegant. For this season, fashion week gave an opportunity to explore all the trendy options to wear for everyone, no matter what your personal style is! We spotted trends like jackets to ruffles to slit gowns and much more with different styles in the Indian fashion weeks. A lot of the trends are new, and some old ones are back that are a must-have in every woman’s closet. Let’s take a look at the latest gown styles!

Latest Gown Styles for 2018

1. Appliqué

Appliqués are the perfect way to spice up your dresses. And it’s still a timeless romantic trend as ever. We saw this trend in many designers’ collections like Tarun Tahiliani, Ad Singh and many more. For this season, we saw all floral appliques! Great option to wear these Indian evening gowns to a wedding reception or your engagement.

2. Belted Gowns

When it comes to fashion, sometimes the extra add-on details and accessories add a whole new statement to a look. Belts are one such accessory. They look chic and sexy when paired with your dresses, whether Indian or western. So if you’re in search of a noticeable yet subtle look, this trend would be a great idea. Wear these belted gowns for Indian wedding reception of your BFF or cousin’s marriage.

3. Capes & Ponchos

Capes and ponchos are still trendy as ever! Capes can be embellished or sheer embroidered, long or short. And ponchos can be floor touching or sheer tulle worn with full sleeved or sleeveless gowns. I’m loving the Manav Gangwani one!

4. Full Sleeved Gowns

The fashion of gowns with full sleeves is back with a bang. And it’s a great way to look classy, be it at weddings or on festivals. For a sexy look, add cutouts or a plunging v neck with sheer long sleeves. Also, you can add some poofy layering to the beautiful gowns. These sexy evening gowns are perfect for outdoor parties in the winter, too.

5. Jacket Gowns

Jacket is yet another trendy fashion staple to pair with your evening gowns. Jackets can be floor touching, crop, knee-length – all look great on gowns. Embellished, gota patti, and plain georgette gowns look beautiful. Jackets give a unique look and work best for winter and destination weddings.

6. Floor Touching & Knee Length Sleeves

Statement sleeves are making waves this year – bell, bubble and even really, really long. In case you’re looking for a better alternative to your sleeveless or full-sleeved dresses,  worry not, because extra long sleeves are super trendy this season. Long and knee length sleeves look great on asymmetric, layered and floor touching gowns. Great option for cocktail or evening parties, this style will truely be a talk of the party!

7. Long Trail Gowns

Gowns with long trails not just look glamorous but also give that princessy bridal feel. This look in the bridal gowns looks so romantic that we can’t get enough of this trend. The longer the trail, the more gorgeous look it gives to the entire outfit. We saw long trails on different types of Indian gowns from off-the-shoulder to strappy ones. Perfect idea for sangeet, weddings and receptions. I’m just loving this style in the designer evening gowns by Manish Malhotra.

8. Metallic Gowns

Metallics have been in since last season. This year we saw classic metallic colors like silver, gold and bronze in the Indian fashion gowns. From embellished to subtle ones, one-sided shoulder to strappy ones, there is one for everyone. Perfect for cocktail parties.

9. Ruffled Gowns

Ruffles were one of the amazing trends we saw in fashion weeks and they’re definitly back this year. Most of the designers came up with this trend in their collections. We saw ruffles on the sleeves, necklines and below the gowns. Additionally, this is a great option for Indian wedding reception for the bride.

10. Gowns with High Slits

A gown with a revealing slit is surely an eye-catching fashion item. I’m loving the concept. This bold trend is for the sexy fashionistas! So if you’re feeling confident, surely go for this trend. To flaunt your look with more sexiness, try a one-sleeve or strapless gown with the slit, as we saw on the runways of Monisha Jaising and Gaurav Gupta. Slits can be knee-high, thigh-high or go all the way up to your waistline!

11. Statement Shoulder Gowns

Statement shoulders are the perfect way to bring life to an outfit. There is so much going on with the shoulders this year. Puffy shoulders, ruffled shoulders and one-sided shoulders were seen on the runways of Gaurav Gupta, Shyamal & Bhumika and Monisha Jaising.
