Hey gorgeous! This year’s shopping season is upon us already, because we have to get ready for weddings and festivals. Lehenga, the gorgeous Indian attire, always steals the show, especially at weddings. Weddings are when the bride-to-be and the guests wanna look stunning and wear something trendy. This season we saw so many new trends in designer Indian lehenga like floor-touching sleeves, corset cholis and many more that are inspired by Paris Fashion Week. So I went through the designer collection from the Lakme Fashion Week and Indian Couture Week and rounded off the top 9 latest designer lehenga trends for 2018. Let’s take a look!

Latest Designer Lehenga Trends for 2018

1. Floor Touching Sleeves

Floor touching sleeves are the latest trend for this season. And I’m just in love with this trend. And we saw sleeves with totally plain fabric or sheer embellishment ones that gave an amazing look. Long slit kurta or cholis with floor touching make a real statement.

2. Capes & Ponchos

Capes and ponchos are making waves in lehenga style trends for the upcoming wedding season. Floor touching sheer ponchos, fringed ponchos and hip length capes are all trendy amongst the lehenga designs. I loved this poncho by Rahul Mishra.

3. Appliqué

Appliquéd lehengas are so romantic! We saw this trend in many of our favorite designers’ collections like Tarun Tahiliani, Anushree Reddy and more. In the latest collections we saw patti work, big and small floral appliqué on lehengas. I’m loving the Manish Malhotra one!

4. Fringed Lehenga

Fringes are taking over the western wear and now we are seeing this trend in cholis, too. We saw floor touching thread fringes in the sleeves and subtle fringes on the hemlines of the choli. It’s a really wearable yet statement-making trend for parties and sangeet.

5. Jacket Lehenga

So bored of carrying dupattas with lehengas? Jacket lehengas are still in! But this season we saw matching or contrasting jackets on the latest designer lehengas. Jackets were of hip length, knee length, ankle length or floor touching in the Indian Couture Week.

6. Kurta with Slit

Cholis just got replaced with comfy kurtas. Go for ankle height or floor touching kurtas. Pair them with matching lehenga and dupatta for a chic, cool wedding look! Perfect to wear it for your BFF’s reception.

7. Long Trail

Lehengas with long trails have been trendy for the last few seasons! And obviously, we can’t get enough of this showstopper trend. The longer the trail, the more gorgeous look it gives to the entire outfit. Perfect for brides who wanna make a dramatic entry, this trend would work well on their engagement and weddings too!

8. Off-the-Shoulder Choli

It’s time to show off those toned shoulders this season because the off-the-shoulder choli is very much in trend! And if you’re bold enough to wear the off-the-shoulder choli, then you will steal the show for sure. Designer off-the-shoulder choli paired with a flattering lehenga and dupatta is a great option for your own engagement, reception or your BFF’s wedding.

9. Western Style Lehenga

We’re seeing a new trend this year – lehengas that give a gown look. With cholis that are cropped but nearly touch a high-waisted lehenga, we’re seeing fringes, fur choli, plunging V-neck, embroidered velvet. Perfect for sangeet or friend’s engagement.
