The quirky fusion wear fashion gets super hot this year. From sexy sarees to drool-worthy tops, check out the latest Indo western dress styles for 2018!
Hey gorgeous! Wearing an Indo western dress is always fun! For a modern woman who is always on the constant run, these Indo western attires are a savior. Without yards of fabrics to drape or multiple pieces to iron and style, they add a spark to your entire look in an instant!
Fusion of Indian and western wear is not a new concept at all. But this year, many designers are experimenting with the fusion wear. We went through Lakme Fashion Week and Amazon India Fashion Week 2018 and we loved the creative silhouettes in Indian fabric.
Indo Western Dress for 2018
From the lovely capes to unique saree styles, the Indo western dress fashion is definitely giving a tough competition to the traditional Indian wear. And it’s also great to see the Indian fashion evolving and everyone wants to try something new. Like Manish Malhotra Couture collection surely set a new trend, which was inspired by Paris Fashion Week.
I love to sport these gorgeous outfits during the wedding seasons. First of all, they are super comfy compared to the traditional Indian wear and I can stand out and make a statement. From gorgeous capes to cropped pants, the western element in the Indian attire is drool-worthy! Designers are leaving no stone unturned this year and have some trendsetting styles! Let’s check ’em out!
1. Indo-Western Lehenga Blouse
Traditional cholis are passé! Welcome the Indo western choli designed like western style tops or blouses. This year we saw ponchos, fringes, capes, ruffles and more. Pair them with contrast colored lehengas to be a headturner!
These blouses are so versatile that you can wear them to wedding events and change your lehenga with jeans or a mini skirt and voila! You’re good to hit a nightclub! Personally, I loved the bralette tops.
2. Belted Saree & Lehenga
Belts are indeed getting the right attention. Belts are used to define the structure of the Indian sarees and lehengas just like in western outfits fashion. You can use a separate belt or choose an outfit that has belt with the blouse. From Sabyasachi to Anita Dongre to Shyamal & Bhumika, all designer collections had this Indo western dress style!
3. Jackets & Robes
Jackets with Indian wear are such a cool idea, especially if you’re attending a winter wedding. Ditch the dupatta with your lehenga or anarkali and sport a stylish jacket and you’re good to go. In fact, jackets or robes add an instant charm to sarees. With these separates, there’s no need to accessorize either! Try sheer jackets on high-low Indo western kurta to steal the show.
4. Pre Draped Saree
Let’s be honest! Most young Indian girls love to wear saree. No matter how difficult it is to drape, it’s an attire that blends well with Indian weddings and party scene. So if you’re like me who struggles to drape a saree then worry not!
Designers are still making a case for these gorgeous pre-draped sarees and saree gowns. We saw a wide variety of them like a ruffled saree gown, off-the-shoulder, cut-outs and a cropped cape belted sarees. I loved Gaurav Gupta’s ruffled one sleeved pre-draped saree – so mermaid like!
5. Cropped Capes
Designers are obsessed with capes this year. And we’re not complaining! They were styled uniquely in each of the looks and they go well for a cocktail party to receptions. Pair capes with lehengas or sarees. I loved the look by Sabyasachi – belted saree with a cropped cape. Droolinggg!
6. Cropped Pants
We saw designer kurtis paired with super-hot cropped pants. This new western dress style is perfect for summers and monsoons, too! Look stylish in the showers, too! Try different length pants from below the knee to ankle length. Pair these super chic pants with anarkali, slit and asymmetric kurtis. Wear them to sangeet or just wear ’em to pre-wedding events!
7. Off-the-Shoulder
This trend is really big in 2018! Time to work on those shoulders, eh! From lehenga blouses to kurtis to saree blouses, almost all Indian wear can be rocked in this fashion. This style may not suit all, especially if you have a bigger bust, but you can sport it with a saree! Try embellished, embroidered, velvet and ruffled off-the-shoulder blouses this year at weddings!
8. Saree with a Top
The designer Indo western outfits included a variety of saree styles. Saree with a top is definitely for modern women. From crisp button-up shirts to peplum tops to sheer tops, the possibilities are limitless to pair sarees with tops. Wear them to office or cocktail parties to steal the show.
9. Salwars
Latest indo western dresses trend include salwars. Surprised?! The classic Indian salwar pants have got a makeover this year. Pair cropped salwar pants with shirt style kurtis, crop tops, ponchos and literally with any tops style. So play up with the salwar pants and style them in different ways to create a statement!
10. Pant Sarees
2018 is definitely the year for sarees! Pant sarees are super-hot and make a perfect Indo western dress for the bride, too! They not only create a statement but are super-comfy when you are running around.
Try them with chooridar pants, leggings, straight cut and loose trousers. So, the next time you plan to wear a saree, drape them on your pants. I loved the pantsuit style by Nancy Luharuwalla.
11. Jumpsuits
Jumpsuits that are Indianised are a must-try this year. Quirky prints, salwar style and embroidered were a few styles that were noteworthy! Also, in a look by Gulab Baug, the jumpsuit was paired with a dupatta. How cool is that?! And the off-the-shoulder cropped salwar jumpsuit is definitely a must try for engagements.
