I am 65 year old lady, height 5 feet with normal structure – neither fat nor too slim. I’m looking for ideas on what to wear to the wedding of my daughter-in-law’s brother. But I am a fit woman and I wear western wear too. What should I wear in this marriage? I’m looking for a comfortable dress in which I should look smart. My completion is on fair side. Which colour are preferred? Please also guide me and from where should I purchase?

Hi! Bright and metallic golds look great on light skin tones. So go for royal blue, bright pink, deep purple or emerald – something festive, since it’s a close family wedding.
Both traditional and Indo-western wear works well as Indian wedding attire for female guests. If you’re comfortable with western wear, an Indo-western dress would be the perfect option for you. Saree-gowns, dhoti-gowns, anarkali dresses lehenga-skirts worn with peplum kurtis would be perfect. Here are some ideas:

If you’re not looking to wear something Indo-western, you can go for a saree or lehenga-gown with a trendy twist. For example, try a saree with a jacket (very hot right now). Or a jacket-lehenga.

Keep the accessories sophisticated – a pair of statement drop earrings, or a pearl necklace set, or a delicate diamond necklace and bracelet are all good ideas. Keep it matching, and carry an embellished clutch. Soft curls and high buns are both good hairstyles to try for weddings. You can also accessorize your bun with embellished or pearl hair-pins.
