There’s a new trend in town and we’re loving it! From dates to night outs, here are six ideas for how to wear a slip dress and rock it!
Hey there gorgeous! 😀 2017 has been the year of revival of 90s fashion trends. From chokers to brown lipsticks to 90s jeans and now, slip dresses. The almost lingerie-like dresses that were popular in the 90s are back in trend now. Between the runway and celeb street style, this is the sought-after trend. They come in all sorts of lengths and silhouettes and styling them can be quite tricky ’cause they can easily look like night dresses. And you don’t have to wear them just by themselves if you feel they’re too revealing or nightout-ish. We’ve rounded up some ways to really tone down the skin-show and night-dress factor. So, here’s 6 outfit ideas on how to wear a slip dress!
How to Wear a Slip Dress
1. Over a Basic T-Shirt/ Top
2. Over an Embellished Sweater
If you’re wondering how to wear a slip dress during the colder months, read on. Perfect for the fall and winter time, this look is just as much chic as it is cozy. Go for a long maxi slip dress in thicker fabrics and team it with a sweater that has embellishments on the neckline or sleeves. Accessorize this evening look with sandals and a clutch and tassle jewelry. As for the makeup, pale pinks and nudes would complement this outfit very well.
3. Under a Leather Jacket
You can’t go wrong with a wardrobe staple like a leather jacket. No matter what types of dresses you pair it with, it’s gonna look great! So, team a midi-length slip dress with a neutral leather jacket and a fringed bag. And in terms of makeup, keep it metallic and shimmery. Finish off the look with a pair of gladiators and some hoop earrings and you’ve got yourself a fashionable night out look.
4. Over a Sheer Top
A sheer top and slip dress – two pieces that can never be worn separately but paired with each other they make it work. Skinny or tight fitted sheer tops are your best bet. Try embroidered or sequinned ones for extra jazz. And as this is a nighttime look, try fitted slip dresses in fabrics such as velvet, silk or brocade. Complete this stylish look with ankle-length booties and dark, smokey makeup.
5. Under a Denim Jacket
Try this slip dress look for your next date! Metallics are a huge trend this season. So why not try a silver metallic slip dress! Pair it with a dark denim jacket, strappy lace-up heels, red lipstick and holographic nails which is one of the trending polish colors for fall.
6. With a Cardigan
If you’re going for a light satin or lace slip dress, pairing it with a warm chunky knit cardigan is ideal especially in the fall. Team it with boots and sling bag in a deep warm color if your cardigan is light colored or vice versa. Also, wearing it with tights or stockings is a great option for when it’s cold out. All you need to complete this slip dress look are a choker, nude lipstick and dark eye shadow.
