Skincare Trends among the Top Brands

Our trend forecasters analyzed 2020’s top skincare trends. We analyzed how many trends occur in the skincare products of the top brands, and this is also a criteria for the rankings. Data comparison shows that top-tier skin care brands like to play safe and traditional – shying away from new skincare trends or eco-skincare. Mid-tier and newer brands are setting themselves apart with new trends in skincare. Non-toxic, vegan skincare, microbiome and niacinamide are most popular.

1. L’Oreal

l'oreal-top-skincare-products-reviews-2020
L’Oreal

L’Oreal, founded in 1909, is a global brand and a household name. Known for its great skincare, hair care and makeup, the brand focuses on women of all ages. However, anti-aging is the brand’s main focus. The products range between $5-$40, putting the brand in the premium range.

This is one of the top skincare brands that’s not big on vegan and natural products. In my personal use, the Pure-Clay Mask is a great product. It is a no-fuss mask that gives you soft and supple skin.

Aishwarya Rai, Viola Davis, and Eva Longoria are the faces of this international brand.

Founded in 1968, Clinique is one of the most popular makeup & top skincare brands. Although these products are on the expensive side, with the average being around $80, it is a celebrity preference. Clinique products have no fragrance or allergy-causing irritants.

One of the best skin care products I have used from the brand is the Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion. Clinique also provides a personalized online skin analysis to fit your skin’s needs. Emilia Clarke and Radhika Apte are the brand’s ambassadors.

Lancôme is a skincare and makeup brand under the L’Oreal umbrella. Traditionally, the company predominantly focused on women in their 40s and is now transitioning to focus on younger women.

Being a luxury brand, it is certainly a celebrity favorite. The products are expensive with a night cream priced at $125. From my personal experience, the Genifique Night cream works best for aging skin. Over the years many actresses, including Lupita Nyuong’o, Zendaya, and Lily Collins, have worked with Lancome.

Glossier

Started in 2014, Glossier is one of the newer top-rated top skincare brands. With a price range of $10-$35, we had put it in a mid-to-expensive category.

With its millennial pink packaging and minimalistic approach to skincare, the company centers towards young women. Glossier treats all its customers as influencers. As for its ambassadors, lesser-known models are used.

Loli

With everyone wanting sustainability in skincare these days, Loli made its presence in the year 2018. The clean and conscious brand uses organic and food-grade products. Loli products are on the pricier side.

Their best-selling Date Nut Brulee retails at whopping $48, which the brand claims, is a 3-in-1 miracle balm and the product reviews prove it. The official website provides BIY (blend-it-yourself) which allows its customers to create their own skincare products.

CeraVe

Founded in 2006, CeraVe is a skincare brand developed with dermatologists. The company does not focus on any specific issue, but rather on delivering affordable skincare to all.

The is one of the best top skincare brands suggested by dermatologists. Tik Tok, the popular social media application made this not-so-famous brand a cult classic.

Laneige

This Korean skincare brand is everyone’s top pick these days. Laneige products are moderately priced. The brand focuses on specific skin types like oily, dry and sensitive skin, and dull skin.

The lip sleeping mask is certainly my personal favorite. It makes your lips smooth and soft and also has a sweet fragrance. Korean actresses Kim Yoo Jung and Lee Sung-Kyung are the ambassadors.

23. Cetaphil

Cetaphil

Another favorite among the top skincare brands with products for dry, acne-prone and sensitive skin is Cetaphil. It was founded in 1947. The products are priced in the average range of $10-$15 which is a bonus.

I use the Gentle skin cleanser as my day-to-day cleanser, which I recommend this cleanser for teenagers and young women. As it does not contain any fragrance and is very gentle on the skin.

24. Glamglow

Glamglow

Another luxury skincare brand on our list is Glamglow. Subsequently after its launch in 2010, it was touted as the most sought-after brand by many celebrities and skincare fanatics. The price of Glamglow products is quite expensive with their masks lying between $10-$60.

It attends to a list of skin-related issues like acne, dullness, and oiliness. My recommendation is the Thirstymud mask which I use as a night mask. It reduces uneven texture, giving your skin that smooth look.
