“This outfit is very Indian-princess-like, and the hairstyle is a bit Audrey Hepburn-inspired.”

Hey angel! Today I want to share a really personal look, which I usually never do – my own engagement gown. This season, I’ve been writing plenty about Indian wedding ideas! If you’re looking for bridal dresses ideas check out: Top Wedding Lehenga Designs for 2016 | Latest Designer Bridal Lehengas. So after all this, it’s only fitting that I post my own engagement look!

This outfit is very Indian-princess-like, and the hairstyle is a bit Audrey Hepburn-inspired. So overall it’s a very royal engagement look. Whether its your engagement, reception, or you’re going to your brother’s wedding – a poofy gown is a great choice for Indian weddings!

Ball gowns are one of the most princess-y among all Indian gown styles. They look good on almost all body types. Choose something that accentuates your best parts!

For my engagement, I chose an Indian gown in sapphire blue, which is my favorite color! The gown is tulle, with lots of embroidery both in the front and back, and part-sheer in the front neckline and back.

I wanted a poofy bun to go with this look, because I just wanted to experiment with a more royal, queen-like hairstyle. The bun is a very complicated, fifty-hairpin-requiring hairstyle which needed many twirls and twists of tiny strands of hair. I added a tiny gold tiara to finish the hairstyle!shilpa-ahujablue-gown-fashion-indian-engagement-look-hairstyle

The back and the poofy tulle skirt are my favorite parts of this gorgeous gown. The sheer back balances the heavy embroidery, and to focus on it even more, I kept the neck jewelry-free. And opted for drop diamond and blue enamel earrings instead to frame the face.

For the makeup I wanted a clean look with a bit of blush and pink lips, with heavily wing-lined eyes, for a dramatic royal Indian makeup look.

I was wearing:
Blue gown with gold embroidery: Vivah, Karol Bagh, New Delhi
Gold tiara: Catch Me, Karol Bagh, New Delhi
Gold, diamond and blue enamel earrings: Soni Sapphire, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi
Bracelet and bangles: Soni Sapphire, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi
Hair and makeup: Cleopatra Spa and Makeup, Chandigarh
