If you were a 90s kid, you’d know that CDs and shiny rave shoes were all the rage. But never in a million years did I think the high-shine reflective colors would make a comeback in the form of fashion and makeup. And we’ve been seeing it everywhere from makeup to nails and now clothing. Just when you thought it’s just a month-long phase amongst beauty bloggers, designers are showcasing collections centered around technicolor and holographic outfits. So read on to know more about the hologram clothing trend on the runways this season and why it’s not going away any time soon!

Holographic Dresses at Balmain

Olivier Rousteing’s Fall Winter collection, a tribute to the fashion house’s founder, Pierre Balmain, was all about light-reflective holographic clothing! I loved the retro-futuristic touch the collection had with the holo fashion and 80s runway music. The designer showcased holo clothes in all forms – holographic dresses, holo sequin tops and even a head-to-toe iridescent look! And it was an absolute dream watching the dynamic glint of the fabrics with every step the models took.

Holo Glitter Makeup with Giambattista Valli

A full face or sparkly holographic glitter? Yes, please! Giambattista Valli’s runway makeup looks from his FW18 show was everything I imagine a unicorn to be. Models donned specks of different colored iridescent glitter on their faces and necks and it was oh-so-fabulous!

Iridescent Accessories at Maison Margiela

You’d think that the fashion house would be completely done with holo. What with their Spring 2018 couture collection centered around the iridescent trend. But no, this season they’re back with more eye-catching holographic clothing, accessories and makeup! Models rocked oversized multi-color holo skirt suits, coats, sneakers, tote bags and even glittery holographic lips! At this rate, we might be seeing holo from Maison Margiela next year too. We’re not complaining though!

Sander Lak unveiled his Fall 2018 collection at NYFW and he’s yet another designer that opted for holographic clothing this season. Although it was just a couple of looks from the show that were holo, they were spectacular. I’m a fan of the the holographic trench coat look with the matching duffel bag and holo loafers!

Holographic Boots by Jeremy Scott

Jeremy’s FW18 ready-to-wear collection had gold holographic apparel, which we didn’t see in any other show this season. Iridescent pieces were paired with one another and the looks even had holographic sneakers and boots to match!

Technicolor Dresses at Moschino

Jeremy Scott’s Moschino collection for Fall 2018 consisted of bright technicolor looks! His alien Jackie O themed show was all about glitter and loud colors. Technicolor prints were featured on pants, skirt suits and dresses.

  1. Wow, that’s such a cool trend, I’ve already been seeing it on celebrities like Lilly Singh wore a holographic outfit for her SNL appearance.
