I created this sultry Christmas look with green and red smokey eye & velvet red lipstick. This is the favorite red eye makeup look I’ve created yet.

When you want to enliven up your cold-season makeup look, go for bright colors. And what says Christmas like some green and red? It would go perfectly with any Christmas ensemble.

Red is such a bold choice, and it may be too bold for the holidays, but never too dull. It’s perfect for when you want to make a statement – vibrant and powerful. For this look, I created velvety red lips by wearing a bold liquid lip over thickly lined lips. Then I applied some pressed powder on the center on my lips and added a pink shade there to give that velvety shine. Scarlet red lips make this classic beauty look more wearable and versatile. You can also do this red makeup look with glitter.

The eyes are very powerful in this look. A lot of kohl, a cat-eyeliner and extra lashes add a bit of drama. And then I added red smokey eyeshadow with a hint of green on the inner lids. The boldest thing about this look is the blush. I used a very bright red blush all over the cheeks. And then extended it to the cheekbones, and up to the temples, mixing it with the eyeshadow, to give a bold, magazine cover look.

For this editorial, I wanted to created something totally different than the natural red makeup looks I’ve done before. Regular makeup looks are easy, however, this one took much more time and effort, and a lot more precision. You can also modify this red eye makeup look to suit dark brown skin, by making the eyeshadow a bit darker, choosing forest green shade with crimson or scarlet red. Such shades suit dark skin more.
