Over-the-knee red boots walking on a tiled runway that created Fendi’s logo in a repeat pattern were the first things to notice in Fendi Fall/ Winter 2017 Ready-to-Wear fashion show. Other accessories included fur-strap bags, statement belts, hoop earrings, and sunglasses. Along with these red boots, the accessories really stole the show.

The collection, vastly different from last season’s Fendi SS17 collection started with redefining fine checks usually seen in menswear. Turning grey menswear-inspired checkered fabrics into structured, classic feminine silhouettes like coats and mini skirts and then pairing them with the aforementioned red boots gave a new, practical spin to winter fashion.

The silhouettes included midi-skirts and loose pants paired with jackets and coats, midi dresses, sheer dresses and crop pants. The color palette encompassed the classic winter shades – grey, beige, cinnamon brown, burgundy, red, deep blue and of course, the timeless black and white.

Other than the runway, the logo was seen here and there on the looks too – on belts, in earrings, and bags. Some more feminine looks were seen in the mix – flowy sheer dresses worn over body suits, crop tops and crochet skirts. Classic layering was certainly the trend, but some looks, particularly this one, paired a see-through crochet dress with a bodysuit. Easily my favorite looks from the collection:

A lot of monochromatic looks were seen along with the others, which paired neutrals with red accessories. Some animal pattern (snakeskin) was seen here and there. Sequin and applique dresses were the last few looks of the show.

Other than being practical, the collection also seemed to be an elegant, more grown-up version of Fendi Spring 2017 collection.
