Fashion designer Gaurav Gupta showcased his latest collection titled ‘Moondust’ at India Couture Week 2017. The fashion show was presented with Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari as the showstopper. Keeping in line with his signature voluminous gowns with wavy, organic patterns and sheer silhouettes, the collection wasn’t much of a surprise. It was all about the western silhouettes taking a modern take on haute couture. The gowns reminded us of mermaids with their fish-tail silhouettes and three-dimensional wavy layers, fin-like pleated capes and sparky scale-like embellishments.

The silhouettes also included long trails, big poofy sleeves, ruffles, sheer, shoulder cut-outs and uniquely draped dresses.

The fabrics included in the collection were silk, crepes, tulle and lace. The color palette included dove grey, cream, shades of green and stone blue, going with the mermaid sea theme.

Here are two of my favorite looks from this collection – a nature inspired one-sided shoulder, slit dress with poofy sleeves and a strapless blouse paired with ruffled embroidered skirt.
