Farewells are full of nostalgia, they bring back memories of your college or high school life. It’s the last chance to spend time with your classmates, seniors or juniors. And because of this, farewell parties are always a fun time that you would remember forever.

From giving or receiving titles to performing dances, farewell is just a beautiful evening. I particularly enjoyed both of my high school farewells. And I even performed a dance and wrote titles during my 11th farewell and on my college farewell. And while I now think I could have been better dressed, I still enjoyed planning my farewell outfits at the time! Smart Casuals

Smart casual dress code is all about dressing in a cool, comfortable way. Your outfit should be presentable but not too formal or too casual. To make a statement, you can go for sheer panels or off shoulder or sleeveless gowns. Make sure it’s a good fit and flattering silhouette.

We already talked about formals. But if your farewell dress code is specified as western formals, then you should avoid ethnic dresses, obviously. So the best ideas to try are gowns, long midi dresses, formal dresses or cocktail dresses. If you want something unconventional, go for a women’s tuxedo or business suit.

Saree

Well, this dress code is self-explanatory. There are so many different saree designs to try. You can go for a chic style with a sexy blouse design, if you want to make a statement you can go for the latest trends, something like a cape sorry or a belted one.

Ethnic Formals

Ethnic formals include anarkali suits, Indian gowns, suits and saris. You can also go for a sari gown or a link account or even a women’s sherwani if you want to try something extra unconventional.

1. Go for something well fitted, neither too tight nor too loose.
2. Go for a flattering silhouette. Keep your body type in mind. Highlight your best parts and take attention away from problem areas.
3. Go for a color that suits your skin tone. Avoid dull colors that look washed out in pictures.
   Try chic designs but not something too crazy that will go out of fashion. You don’t want to look back at your old pictures and wonder what the hell you wore!
4. Avoid something too shiny, like shiny velvet or glittery fabrics. They don’t look very rich or classy.
5. Avoid something too plain also, it’s a party, and a little bling and embellishment is a good idea.
6. Don’t think that good farewell dresses are always expensive. If you look well enough, you can find good dresses in any budget. You just have to plan well in advance and go for window shopping and look online too.

10. Keep your accessories minimal. A chic matching or metallic clutch, a necklace or earrings and a pair of plain matching heels are good enough. Avoid too many pieces of jewelry or large handbags.
    Last but not the least, do follow the dress code if there is one. Even if you feel it’s too formal or crazy, it’s only fun to be a part of a community if you do follow the guidelines. And don’t forget to have fun!

If your college or high school farewell invite doesn’t specify any dress code, gown would be the first choice. If you’re wondering what to wear on college farewell that’s elegant yet makes a statement, gown is the perfect idea. Choose a dress that’s not too shiny, but focuses more on color and texture, rather than bing. So try gowns with threadwork, pearl or applique instead of sequins or shiny embroidery.

Pastel colors like lilac, sky blue, blush pink and mint green are great. Black and champagne are good color choices, too. Choose what suits your skin tone best.

Try classic gown silhouettes like A-line or mermaid, which never go out of fashion and also look cute. It’s a good idea to choose a gown that has an interesting top, since a lot of the pictures are top-only. Accessorize with a cute necklace or drop earrings and matching heels with a clutch.

Want something unique and non-traditional? An Indo-western dress is a good idea to consider. Here are some ideas for different types of Indo-western dresses. Some of the examples include long skirts, saree-gown, palazzo, women’s sherwani, pre-stitched saree with slit worn with chooridar. Accessorize with a modern clutch, choker or long tassel earrings.

Long Skirt + Crop Top

A cocktail dress is the simplest idea when you don’t want to think too much. It can be a knee-length dress, a mini dress or a midi (below-the-knee) dress, depending on how conservative your college is and what suits your body type. For example, I’m short, so short dresses suit me more.

Anarkali
