TYPES OF FACIALS beauty skincare

1. Aromatherapy Facial

In aromatherapy facial, plants, and essential oils are used for overall well-being. This therapeutic facial has the perfect blending of essential oils that can be used to get the desired response. It cleanses skin pores from within and repairs your skin. Infusing the oil can also calm your nerves and provide a rhythmic circulation. This is the reason why aromatherapy facials are on top of the list for the beauty regime for brides-to-be.

Benefits

An aromatherapy facial is performed using a number of essential oils. Each of these oils is selected depending upon your skin type. They can treat a variety of skin problems like acne, rashes, removing dead skin cells, and promoting clear skin.

It is important to know which oil works best for which skin texture. Here are some examples. Tea tree oil or chamomile oil is useful for treating dry and irritated skin that is caused by infections. Lemon or orange is useful for whitening skin tone and treating blemishes. Rose and jasmine oils are useful for restoring lost moisture and hydrating skin tissues. Eucalyptus oil is useful for treating acne and skin problems like rosacea because of the presence of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents.

Personal Experience

Personally, there’s absolutely nothing that my skin tolerates other than an aromatherapy facial session. For the most part, these types of facials hydrate my skin to the maximum. You may be thinking what’s luxurious about it? Maybe that it repays my skin with a lack of dryness and makes it incredibly dewy. Trust me, the refreshing effect that it gives my skin is equivalent to a full hour of sleep.

Since my skin is on the sensitive side, so I usually side with a blending of Roman chamomile, lavender, neroli, or sandalwood oil. While I might not be able to escape the occasional breakouts, but at least my skin doesn’t have to worry about weather-prone dryness.

2. Fruit Facial

When you are bare-faced you want to make sure your face doesn’t look tired and lifeless. For this reason, you need something like a fruit facial to instantly revive your face. It will allow your skin to look better and breathe. It is a popular facial treatment that encourages the use of natural ingredients like fruits. Since they are free from artificial ingredients, side effects should be least of your worry. And you can also do it at home with DIY ingredients.

Benefits

The fruit facial nourishes the skin giving it a fresh look. It also loosens out the dead skin cells from top layers of the skin revealing a smoother texture.

Personal Experience

A few years ago, when I wasn’t settled with any specific beauty products, I tasked myself with testing all the new moisturizers, serums, and oils. Now in hindsight, when I look back, I admit the mission was somewhat stupid. And by the end, my skin would have hardly calmed down. Then I convinced myself to restart with a natural option, which ultimately led me to fruit facials.

After trying it once or twice a month for the first time in years-my skin felt renewed. So why did it work so well? It’s because of a combination of natural ingredients that didn’t make my skin worse bringing my search saga for the ultimate skin solution to an end. So this is one of the safest types of facials.e

3. Oxygen Facial

Despite hearing about oxygen facial benefits every time, I didn’t fall for the internet-bait and felt pretty smug about it. But when I finally tried it out: because the reviews won’t shut up. Did I think it was all worth it after I tried it on my skin? TBH I couldn’t help but understand why girls were so into them.

Simply put, the oxygen facial is a non-medical procedure where no chemicals are used. It is performed by an aesthetician in a spa. Through this facial, I learned that our skin cells are oxygenated fully to reveal healthy and youthful skin.

Benefits

While there were plenty of rave reviews about oxygen facials across the internet, I decided to try it for myself to see whether they live up to the hype. It turned some of the skin benefits were just so legit. The real benefits of the facial for me were reduced visible aging lines, added radiance, and hydrated skin. You may expect other benefits like an even skin tone and acne healing.

Result

I can’t say the difference was overnight. But one thing I noticed though was how less dull my face looked after the facial. It made me feel like I did something worthwhile for my skin. I can’t hate on that. In order to get the full benefits of an oxygen facial, you will have to get it done once a month. You may ask your dermatologist for recommendations.

Celeb Endorsements

4. Hydra Facial

Hydrafacial is one of the popular types of facials. It targets common skin problems like aging signs and dryness with hardly any side effects. This resurfacing treatment cleanses pores and moisturizes the skin. The four-step treatment consists of cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydrating the skin using serums that are applied into the pores using a pen-like device known as HydraPeel Tip, so you can’t do it at home.

Benefits

Hydrafacial treatment is supposed to benefit your skin in numerous ways. It can hydrate, brighten, and clear the skin. In addition, salons claim that it also smoothens wrinkles and fine lines, boosts firmness, even out brown spots, and reduce enlarged pores.

Results

Following a hydrafacial treatment, your skin will be refined, dewy, and glowy. To get maximum results, salons say you may have to go for the treatment every four to six weeks.

Celeb Endorsements

The Hydrafacial treatment is endorsed by celebrities like Kate Winslet and Amy Poehler. They credit the facial for infusing glow back into their skin.

5. European Facial

The European facial is also known as classic facial. It uses the basic facial procedures and so it makes for a great ‘introductory’ facial. That means the treatment will essentially obliterate debris from dead skin cells and loosen up pores, getting you four steps closer to glorious skin.

The first step is cleansing and exfoliating skin. The second step is using steam to loosen up pores. The third step is extractions to unclog pores after which you will be treated with a facial massage. The fourth and last is a mask application designed to suit your skin type. After the mask is removed, toner and moisturizer will be applied to prevent dryness. Commonly, the European facials last between 60-90 minutes. This is one of the most basic types of facials to try.

Personal Experience

This is a facial I do not mind doing time and again. It is a good way to pass an hour of your time. And true to its legit benefits, my skin does, in fact, feel recovered. You can also do them yourself, here’s how: At-Home Facial Method.

6. IPL Laser Facial

As you can make out from the name, the IPL treatment is an intensive, visible broad-spectrum light that is supposed to treat brown spots, sun spots, and melasma. It initially passed the FDA standards and there has been no stopping of its use since then.

Benefits

Salons claim that light therapy treatment can treat wrinkles, dark spots, and unwanted hair. You can also try IPL to minimize sun damage, rosacea, freckles, and age spots.

Results

Spas recommend that you may need to undergo six to seven-session to see visible results. If the follow-up session seems expensive for you, then you may space out your appointment a few weeks apart. After the treatment is over, your visible spots will get darker and scab off on its own within a week.

Celeb Endorsements

Few A-listers have happily shared their skincare secrets. Debra Messing credits Clear + Brilliant treatment for her gorgeous skin. Kim Kardashian shared that she tried Coolaser. While Jhene Akiko tried Fraxel skin resurfacing laser treatment.

7. Vampire Facial

Don’t let the name scare you. In all seriousness, this skincare treatment treats a number of skin concerns. From preventative aging to early aging signs, to acne scars, and uneven complexion, the facial takes care of all that and more. The Vampire facial consists of using the patient’s own PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) using micro-needling.

Benefits

The use of micro-needling procedures is supposed to boost skin cell turnover, while the PRP increases the production of collagen. The result is reduced fine lines, scars, improving skin tone, and texture. Plus, PRP injections claim to treat lines around the mouth, dark circles, under-eye bags, and saggy skin.

Results

Salons say you can expect to see visible results by one to two weeks; with your skin tone appearing plump and hydrated with the renewed collagen production.

Celeb Endorsements

Kim Kardashian West is known for going extreme lengths when it comes to beauty. And she made the vampire facial quite the hit it is today. In the days leading to her wedding, she shared a post on social trying out the procedure, although it still scares us.

Her sister Kourtney Kardashian also opened up about her trying the vampire facial. Other celebs like Haley Baldwin and Gwyneth Paltrow shared their love for the plasma-rich facial, too.

To me, this seems one of the most over-hyped among our list of types of facials. So personally, I don’t think I’ll try this! Even Kim Kardashian threw reservations about trying it again, citing it as a painful experience.

8. Wine Facial

Yes, red wine facial is a thing. If you intend on doing nice and fun things for your skin, then this one is for you. Besides it is good to pamper yourself once a while, don’t you think?

wine-facial-types-of-skin-treatment-names

Benefits

There are several benefits of slapping on some red wine (of your choice) into your skin. Wine has resveratrol, a plant compound that acts like an antioxidant, which is great for anti-aging. It also has polyphenols which maintain the elasticity of the skin and protect it from harmful UV rays. The red wine facial also benefits acne scars, skin damage from sun exposure, and high-stress levels.

Methods

You can follow up with a simple recipe from home using just three ingredients for these types of facials. You can add one tsp each of Greek yogurt, wine of your choice, and honey. If you are not too optimistic with yogurt or honey, then switch it for aloe vera and witch hazel depending on your skin needs. Mix the ingredients well. After cleansing and toning your face, dip a cotton ball into the mix. Dab the cotton ball to your face. You can instantly feel the wine mixture’s soothing properties against your skin. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off.

So those were the types of facials you can choose from. If you have any allergies, we recommended you consult your dermatologist or aesthetician. We suggest that people with sensitive skin perform a patch test to ensure there is no reaction.

9.Cryotherapy Facial

A traditional facial usually include the use of cleansers, exfoliator, mask, and face oils. But the cryotherapy facial does not involve any of these things. It is playfully known as ‘frotox’ as the treatment involves freezing the skin. During the facial, a device pumps out liquid nitrogen all over the face for a minute or two.

The aim is to make the skin glow, tighten the pores, and give it a youthful look. These facials are popular as they are fast and easy on the pocket, with no side effects of skin redness. A regular session lasts for 15-30 minutes, while the main pumping lasting just two to three minutes.

Benefits

This cooling treatment enhances the removal of dead skin cells from the skin’s surface and smoothens the skin overall. Its high concentrations are also used for major skin problems like warts. At a lower level, the cryotherapy facial is beneficial for aging skin. The low temperature cleanses the dead skin cells from the skin’s top layers to reveal healthy, glowing skin underneath.

10. Galvanic Facial

There are many types of facials that can visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and tighten the skin. One such treatment to consider is the galvanic facial. This treatment is performed using a handheld device that is adjusted to a low voltage DC current. It is painless and usually gets done in 10 minutes. The goal behind this facial method is to modify and improve the electrical channels that our skin has.

Benefits

There are many benefits that the galvanic facial offers. One of the primary benefits is the enhanced circulation in the problematic area. This facial method improves the effectiveness of the products used and lifts total skin nourishment.  Apart from that, it also offers deeper penetration of the anti-aging ingredients, detoxification, and reduces wrinkles. Overall, there will be a visible difference in your skin after just one session. The use of the device and products together produce better results, so you may consider trying this one.
