But the problem isn’t only for plus sized women, even for other body types like pear-shaped do face such difficulties while shopping, especially for wedding wear.

These women literally have no options and have to settle in with whatever is available. Ugh! I know, why do designers ignore certain body types? It’s as if they don’t even exist! Well, recently Sabyasachi Mukherjee unveiled a set of images of a gorgeous plus-sized Indian bride wearing his ensemble on his Instagram account. So cool! Now that’s like a whole new revolution considering Indian bridal fashion.

ASOS has a separate section for plus size women’s clothing and they do have bridal wear, too! But it’s high time for Indian designers also to concentrate on all body shapes. After all, we need to make sure everyone feels like fashion can be for them, too!

Sabyasachi Mukerjee’s Plus Sized Indian Bride

The bride, Dolly Menghani, wore a white floral printed lehenga with heavy embroidered border. The lehenga also had gold embellishments all over. The bride completed the look by pairing traditional jewelry and subtle makeup.

A simple yet unique look complemented her body so well. The elbow length sleeves of the blouse and wearing the lehenga higher, the styling was done perfectly. The pictures on the Instagram feed shows the bride having fun with her friends and sipping coffee. These pictures surely tell that the bride was super confident in her own skin and made a statement by being herself. Unlike other brides, she chose a lighter color over a dark shade, which is even more pleasantly surprising.

A famous designer like Sabyasachi creating plus sized clothing in Indian fashion is surely progressive. But Indian brides, too, need to be cool enough to accept their body type. There are instances where brides are pressurized to lose weight by their family or friends, especially before the wedding and no one bothers about it after the wedding. Instead, make fitness a lifestyle and concentrate on loving yourself!
