Having a hard time finding that perfect word in your fashion writing? Here is a complete fashion words list to describe fashion trends – good, bad & everything in between.
At ShilpaAhuja.com, I love creating resources for the fashion community to use. We’ve already created a whole fashion trends glossary, and even trendy cultural slang. However, today I wanted to focus on a resource for fashion writing.
How do you talk about fashion trends?
We see fashion being described everywhere – from blogs to magazines to social media posts to shopping sites. And sometimes, it can be difficult to find the perfect word. More often than not, we see the same few terms being used and overused. Just like fashion blogs, writing can get stale too. If you’re someone who spends time writing or describing fashion trends, you’ll know what I mean.
Having spent 8 years writing fashion articles and trend forecasts, this has become my everyday, or at least seasonal job. Personally, I love to look up words in the dictionary to find the perfect one to express myself. Often, I find myself scratching out words in our staff writer’s articles too, so that we can avoid repetition.
So to make all our lives easier, myself included, I’m just making a definitive list of words to describe fashion trends. In fact, I think I’ll keep adding words to this list annually. So whether you’re a fashion blogger, journalist, marketing professional or fashion designer, here’s a list of words you can use to describe fashion trends.
Since there are so many in my fashion words list, I sorted them into 3 buckets – negative, positive and neutral (or those that can be used negatively or positively depending on the context).
Here you go!
