Hey gorgeous! Dresses are a must have in every girl’s wardrobe, in multiples in fact! From minis to midis to maxis, dresses have so much to offer. And you can carry them off for parties or even as casual wear. After going through more than a hundred collections from the Fall Winter 2017-18 runways across Paris, Milan, New York and London fashion weeks, SlubTeam has predicted the latest dress trends for 2017. And it wasn’t an easy task to choose a few with so many beautiful collections either.
We saw casual and party dresses and dresses being paired with separates like jackets or even pants. Some trends were old and others were new and we are loving it! So, let’s check ’em out!
Latest Dress Trends for 2017
All Fabric Trends
1. Bold Sheer Dresses
Sheer fabric surely makes a statement! But sheer dresses seem unwearable for winter as the material is too thin! But you can cover yourself up with warm cozy outerwear. We saw bold looks in Dior and Fendi collections. I loved the black lace bodycon dress by Dolce & Gabbana.

2. Metallic Dresses
Metallic dresses were huge in Spring 2017 and are still going to be trendy in Fall 2017. We saw in mini and midi dresses, mostly silver metallic ones. Other colors we saw included gold, copper and pewter or dark grey metallic. These dresses make perfect party outfits. The look by Moschino has watches stuck on the entire dress. How cool is that?! I also loved the gold dress with pockets by Oscar de la Renta and the fur sleeved silver metallic one by Versus Versace.

Velvet is still in this season. We saw maxi, midi and mini dresses in the velvet trend. While in some collections, we saw plain velvet dresses, in the others, we saw printed and embellished velvet dresses! Also, check out the heart-shaped cut-out in the red mini dress by Chloé.
4. Shiny Sequin Dresses
Sequin dresses are still trendy. These dresses are perfect for parties. We saw mini, midi and maxi sequin dresses by Chanel, Dior and Dolce & Gabbana.

5. Ruffle Dresses
Ruffles add a feminine touch to the outfit. This Spain-inspired trend is here to stay in Fall 2017. We saw ruffles on the hemlines, ruffle tiered mini dresses, ruffled tops and sleeves. I loved the Burberry ruffled sleeve dress. Also, check out the asymmetric sleeves by Burberry!
6. Dresses with Pockets
The designers are on their way to create practical, wearable garments. We saw dresses with side pockets, center and even a single pocket on the side. The overdress by Simone Rocha has huge multiple pockets on either side.
7. Dresses with Appliqué
Appliqué details were seen in the most unique way this season. Floral appliqué was huge on the runways. And I loved the pecock feathers appliqué in the cutout dress by Maison Margeila.
8. Patchwork Dresses
From jackets to jeans to dresses, patchwork is everywhere these days. Floral patchwork was the most common on Fall 2017 runways. The look in Versace FW17 had huge floral patchwork on a sheer midi dress. This is a great way to sport two trends in one dress! We also saw crochet patchwork. The extreme look by Dolce & Gabbana had full sleeved high-low dress with patchwork.
9. Collar Bow
This is a new trend that we saw this season. The demure pussybow is giving way to the classy collar bow. Although vintage-inspired, we saw both long and short collar bows in many collections like Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Chloé etc. Bows were spotted in tops too.

10. Dresses with Pants
This trend emerged a couple months ago, and it became really prominent on Fall 2017 runways. A better way to wear your minis this winter. We saw dresses paired up with culottes, trousers, leather pants and cropped pants. The dresses by Oscar de la Renta and Monse give were almost like tops – somewhere between tops and dresses.
11. Turtleneck
Move over, turtleneck sweaters. Fall 2017 is gonna be the season of chic turtleneck dresses. Versus Versace had a cool lightening-shaped zipper turtleneck, while the other looks had plain and skinny turtlenecks in dress trends for 2017.
All Cut Trends
12. Asymmetric Dresses
Along with high-low dresses, we saw dresses with asymmetric cuts in the collection of Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta and many more. Christopher Kane had asymmetric sleeves, too!
13. One Sleeved Dresses
The one shoulder dress has a new competitor – one sleeved dress. Although we saw one shoulder dresses, too, this season, the one sleeved dress trend beat them. From extra long sleeves to sleeveless to strapless, they’re all worth a try! In Monse, we saw a dress that was off-the-shoulder on one side and sleeveless on the other.
14. Front Slit Dresses
We saw all sorts of slits – both on midi and maxi dresses – side slits, thigh-high slits, multiple and front slits in dress trends for 2017. I loved the Fendi satin slit dress paired with a belt.
Apart from these trends, we saw floral, animal, artsy prints and checkered and geometric patterns a lot. Stripes, too, were seen. Plus, leather dresses and shoulder pads were seen. Dresses were worn with belts and paired with skirts, too, in a few looks.
