It’s still winter but florals are filling up the designer collections. Here’s how to wear the floral trend in Winter 2017.
Florals are the talk of the town this winter because we saw them on the Fall/Winter 2016-17 runways. Right from Alexander Mcqueen to Michael Kors to Elie Saab, all our favorite designers are filling our Instagram feeds with florals this winter.
Winter fashion has always been limited to the basic furs, deep hues and solid colors. But it’s good to see different prints and patterns blooming right now.
Florals are colorful, peppy and bring vibrancy to a look. They are not limited to casual wear but go well as formal wear too, if paired right. There’s so much to try in the floral trend this winter – floral patterns, embroideries, accessories and prints.
So, here’s how you can incorporate the blooming florals into your wardrobe.
How to Wear the Floral Trend in 2017
#1 Floral Accessories
Floral accessories are very trendy this winter. You can pair floral accessories with a plain outfit or go bold by sporting them with a printed outfit. Or you can just add a hint of florals to your look with small floral embellishments on your bag, belt or scarf. For a unique look, try floral clutch handles or phone covers.
#2 How to Layer Florals in Winter
Layering is the go-to winter style. If you want layering tips, check out ‘How to Layer in Winter the Right Way‘. Layering prints on prints looks super chic! So, try pairing your florals with bold geometric prints, stripes or subtle organic patterns.
I loved the Michael Kors look that pairs a long-sleeved floral blouse with a checkered jacket. If you have a checkered jacket in your closet, you too can try this look for a casual or formal outfit.
#3 Bold Floral Print and Embroidery
Bold floral prints are really in vogue this year. You can sport a bold floral printed sweater dress with a matching accessory like boots or a bag. If you don’t feel bold enough to sport too many prints, then combine a solid colored separate with a bold floral print.
The Elie Saab bold looking skirt looks alluring and wintery and is paired up right with a solid- colored black top.
Plain leather jackets are a must- have. But if you’re planning to buy something unique this season, then invest in a floral leather coat. It’ll look super-trendy in winter and you can wear it in spring, too!
#4 Tone On Tone Or Monochromatic Florals
Monochromes are a great way to try a trend in a subtle, safe way. You don’t need to think too much to sport same colored separates or accessories in your outfit. Plus, monochromes add elegance to the look. So, try the floral trend in a monochromatic jacket, coat or dress.
To add some interest in your look, mix and match different textures. Like pair a plain velvet skirt with a monochromatic floral sweater under a brocade coat to match.
Personally, I love this look from the Michael Kors ready-to-wear collection, where a gold long-sleeved blouse is paired with a matching metallic coat.
#5 Double Florals
Lately, we’ve been seeing lots of printed looks on the runway. Bold prints are the cool new trend in high fashion! So, don’t be afraid to pair a floral print with another floral. To pull off this tricky trend, you can experiment by pairing a light-colored floral with a dark-colored one. For example, pair a beige floral printed blouse with a chocolate-colored floral skirt. You can even pair it with a solid and go for a floral accessory instead.
So, ladies, florals are high right now! And now you know how to wear the floral trend! Would you go bold or keep it simple with minimal florals? Let us know in the comments!
