Natural Hair Therapy at Home

Hair therapy care starts with basic cleaning and some pampering. Here are some tips I recommend for cleansing!

Hair Care Tips

  1. Oil your hair and massage it gently an hour before you go for a hair wash as it’ll help you to pre-condition it.
  2. Dry your hair with a cotton towel once you are out of the shower, as the other fabric towels can tangle your hair, increase frizziness and cause it to break. Avoid rubbing towel on your hair. Instead gently pat it to avoid getting split-ends.
  3. Don’t comb your hair when your hair is wet. Also, use a wide toothed comb to detangle your hair when it’s dry.
  4. Hair color tends to dry the scalp as well the ends. So, if you have colored your hair, take extra care by providing the moisture with oil massages and hair masks, especially on the ends.
  5. Avoid using harsh products on your scalp that contain chemicals. Mild shampoos or natural cleansers are recommended. So avoid those that produce too much lather. In fact, Shilpa recommends not even using shampoo, but instead use very diluted baking soda to clean hair. Read more here: What Hair Shampoo Do You Use?
  6. Hairwash should be done 1-4 times a week. Avoid washing it more than 4 times max. But keep your hair clean, and do wash it after sweaty exercises like gymming.
  7. Don’t step out with hair oiled and wet hair, ’cause the dust and dirt stick to it and cause damage to your hair.
  8. Make use of soft hair ties to tie up your hair. Avoid thin rubber bands since they tangle and may break your hair.
  9. Conditioning your hair once in a week is a must, and deep conditioning once a month.
  10. When you apply conditioner after shampooing, avoid it touching your scalp. Apply it to the lengths and ends of your hair only.
