It’s the transitional season between Spring and Summer, finally the time when we can forget about winter hats and start thinking about cute and latest women’s hairstyles for all of our outfits – maxi dresses and shorts and crisp office shirts and what not. Because fun outfits call for fun hairstyles. No wonder I’ve been getting requests from so many of you to write about hottest and latest women’s hairstyles to make for office and casual wear. So here’s the list I compiled and how to make them. Plus there’s also a cool tutorial at the end!!

Latest Women’s Hairstyles : Office

1. The Low Braided Bun

This simple bun is for formal workplaces where you want no fuss, easy-to-wear hairstyles that stay in place all day but are also good for summers when you want all the hair to be up and tied.

2. The Top Messy Bun

The latest women’s hairstyles are a lot about being comfortable this year. This updo is for less formal workplaces where you want something chic but not too messy. This can be worn casually too. Just pull all your hair up in a ponytail at the top of your head, but while tying it, pull the hair into a bun. Then pin any flyways into place with pins.

3. The Messy Ponytail with a Poof

This is for more casual workplaces, cool looking but also easy enough to wear the whole day. Just comb your bangs to a side, and do a little back-combing at the top of the hair. Then spray them and pull them back into a ponytail.

4. The Side Ponytail

This can be done both messy and sleek, depending on what kind of workplace yours is. Looks cute and I think it’s the quickest trend amongst all latest women’s hairstyles.

5. The Ponytail with Criss-Cross Sections

This is a bit time consuming if you’re doing it by yourself, but is a nice twist to a regular ponytail. Just take sections of your hair at the back and criss-cross them neatly 3-4 times, each time pinning them up one over the other. The pins should be hidden. Leave the last section and then tie the lengths of your hair into a ponytail. Twist the section over your band to cover it and then neatly secure it with a pin at the back.

6. The Back-Knot

This is super easy and adds dimension to your hair. Twist the ends of your hair into waves with a straightening iron. Then lightly brush them. Take a section of hair on either side and lightly tie them into a double knot without pulling them too much.

If you don’t know how to curl your hair at the ends with a straightening iron, here’s a tutorial.

7. The Side Twist

This is a nice twist to your everyday blowdry. Just part your hair sideways. Then twist the ends of your hair into waves with a straightening iron and lightly brush them. Take a section of hair on the shorter side and twist it a few times, and then just pin it to the back so the pin is hidden behind your hair. This can also work for short hair, or bobs.

Latest Women’s Hairstyles: Party

1. The Bun with Top Braid

Chic summer hairstyle for medium to long hair. Braid your hair at the top down to one ear, then make a bun with the lengths of your hair.

2. The Braid-Band

The braid-band is very in this season. It’s one of the hottest latest women’s hairstyles. Make a simple side-braid, and then twist it around your head to form a head-band, and pin it at the end neatly. Your braid can be flat or thick, messy or neat, whatever you like!

3. The Broad Side Braid

This is very easy and yet hard-to miss. Just part your hair at the side, then pull them together and divide into three sections. Spray them so that the sections don’t get messy later. Make a very loose side braid and pin it at the end, then pull out the sections lightly to broaden it.

4. The Fish-Tail Braid

The fishtail braid is still going strong, and can be made with many variations, messy or neat, with a poof or with loose fringes, take your pick! At the end of the braid, take a section of your hair and twist it around your hairband so it is covered.

5. The Top Braid

This is another version of the braid-band for a messy and cool look. Part your hair at the side, then on one side, make a top-braid and just tie it at the end as low as you can. Then pull some sections out to make it messy. This works for bobs too.

6. The Twirly Bun

This is a great option for when you want to look fancy. Take a section of hair at the front, gently brushing them onto one side. Straighten your hair, and twirl them at the ends to create waves with a straightening iron. Then take the rest of the hair, and pull it into four sections – top, sides and bottom. Take a large section of top hair and do some back-combing at the top. Pull them back and pin them. Twist the ends and pin them into a bun. Then take the bottom section and do the same. Repeat with side sections.

Latest Women’s Hairstyles: Casual

1. The Fish-Tail Bow-Tie

This can be made casually messy and also neatly fancy. Take a section at one side of your hair and make a messy fishtail braid. Take the rest of your hair and hold it into a ponytail, leaving a section in the middle. Twist the braid around the ponytail, and pin it into place from front and behind. Then take the leftover small section of hair divide it into two, making a bowline knot at the center and secure it with a pin.

2. The Messy Braid

This is such a summery braid. Great for when you want a fun messy back braid. Pull your hair at the back and make a fishtail braid. Then just tease the braid at the top so it gets messy. You can also give it a braid-mix twist, by combining two braid styles. Make a messy fishtail braid for half of your hair, pin it, and for the rest of the hair, make a regular braid for a cool cocktail of hairstyles!!

3. The Side Braid with a Poof

This is a Brigitte Bardot twist on the above hairstyle. Tease your hair with back-combing at the top, then pull them onto one side and make a messy fishtail braid. Gently pull out sections in the front and let them hang loose on either side. If your hair is shorter, then just make a side ponytail instead of a fishtail braid.

4. The Half Side-Twist

This is quick and easy for college or meeting friends. Make little French braids on either side going down to the back of the head, and then pin them together.

5. The Double Top-Braid

Easy and fun! Take a section at the top of the hair, pull it back onto one side and make a fishtail braid, pinning it at the end. Then take a section down the middle of that braid and repeat.

And now my two current favorites!

6. The Messy Top Bun with Long Bangs or The Madonna

I’m so so into this hairstyle right now that I make some version of it everyday. Pull your hair messily at the top, leaving a section in the front. Then twist them and tie them at the top with a thin matching hairband. While tying them, pull them all up into a very messy bun. You can let the ends hang up front mixing with the front leftover section. Then gently pin down sections of the bun so it is secured on the head and covers the headband. Then take a scarf (optional) and tie it into a bow around your head, and pin down its ends on either side. Now you can leave the section of front hair as they are, or you can curl them with a curling iron into messy curls à la Madonna.

I’m currently loving this hairstyle because it not only combines the season’s two hot trends – the bandana and the long uneven side bangs, but is also great for the hot and humid weather that I live in. Plus it’s really versatile, you can do this with or without the bangs and it can be done with straight or curly hair, on bad hair days, you name it!
