Versus Versace Spring Summer 2017

When a show starts with Bella Hadid wearing a head-to-toe-black outfit, you know it’s going to be a daring collection. It was a black leather jacket worn over what looked like a cross between a bodysuit and a swimsuit. And no, the collection did not disappoint, daring-wise!

The belt has visibly moved up – to the breasts – I’m calling it the belt-bra! Even though it’s sexy, i can’t think of where I could wear it in real life – except maybe to the Halloween party. But then, I’ve been seeing more Halloween-y things on the runway than Halloween parties I’ve actually been to. So that looks difficult.

Other than the wearability factor, the pieces were brilliant. With bold sheer panels across the chest, cut-outs at panty-level and head-to-toe monochromatic outfits (including accessories), Versus Versace Spring 2017 collection was so unapologetic. And I loved this boldness that represents the flawfully sexy women of today. As Donatella Versace quoted in the fashion show description, “This is about everything real. It’s about how the Versus Versace generation live their lives, and the wardrobe that gives them power.”

Other pieces in the collection were certainly more wearable – both casually and to parties. They included leather jackets, knee-high leather boots, broad-ankle strap heels, mini-skirts, sweaters, and co-ordinated sets. Scuba-inspired pants and matchy-box bags were really interesting.

While the color palette was made up of black, silver, olive and camo-khaki, mango stood out the most, which certainly seems like the color of Spring 2017.

Here are some of my favorite looks. A mango-colored co-ord set with the aforementioned belt-bra! And matching shoes. Another look is a ripped-denim co-ord set with skirt and vest. The third one is a mango-colored sweater with slits and asymmetric sleeve-hems, paired with a gorgeous asymmetric silver skirt (loving this!). The last one is an athleisure look – a sheer athletic-inspired crop-top paired with track-pants and bomber jacket set, broad-ankle-strap heels and a choker. I’m hoping to see many of these pieces on celebs next season.
