What is Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal Results laser-hair-removal-results-latest-technique-permanent-removalLaser hair removal is a process in which the hair follicles are removed or destroyed completely by exposing the desired body part to pulses of laser light. It can be considered as an option for permanent hair removal but there are mixed reviews and side effects too. Let’s find out more about laser hair removal results.

Types of Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal Process

laser-hair-removal-results-pros-cons-reviwesThe laser hair removal process is not a one-shot thing and requires multiple sessions. In this process, a beam of highly concentrated light is targeted or aimed at the hair to be removed. The pigments present in the hair follicles absorb the light and destroy the hair. Lasers selectively target dark and coarse hair. One pulse of the laser can treat a quarter size in one second.

Laser Hair Removal Cost

Laser hair removal may cost you an arm and a leg! It’s pretty expensive. And even after spending so much you’re not sure whether it’s a permanent solution for hair removal or not! For smaller areas like upper lip, underarms it may cost around $300-400 but for chest, back and legs it costs around $800-1000 approximately.

Laser Hair Removal Results

The laser hair removal results depend on how a person’s skin responds to laser treatment. For a few, the hair may grow back even after the laser treatment and for a few, it becomes a permanent solution (rarely!). For people whose new hair reappears, the treatment when done may be perfect without a single follicle of hair, but after a few days when the hair appears, it is dark and coarse! Before going for laser hair removal treatment make sure you are prepared for any consequences. So, don’t think laser hair removal will keep all your extra hair problems at bay!

How Effective is Laser Hair Removal

The procedure may not be permanent. “Hair grows in indeterminate cycles, and it needs to be caught in the growth phase for the procedure to be effective,” says Sarnoff Fitness Magzine. So, if the hair is not caught in the growth phase there are chances of the hair growing back.

Laser Hair Removal Pros and Cons

While laser hair removal results are not permanent they’re helpful to a certain extent! There are both pros and cons you need to know before getting an appointment for hair removal by laser treatment.

Pros

1. You can get the hair removed at any part of the body and there are no restrictions.
2. It is a semi-permanent solution and helps in decreasing the hair-growth! After the treatment, the hair growth may reduce than it was earlier.
3. Numbing lotions are used before the treatment to avoid feeling the pain.
4. It may take multiple sessions but in one session the amount of hair removed is faster than the other hair removal methods.

Cons

1. It is highly expensive and may not be as effective for everyone.
2. It’s a long process and the time varies depending on the part of which the hair is to be removed.
3. It works well on lighter skin with darker coarse hair. “In patients with darker skin tones the pigment-rich skin competes with the hair follicle for the laser’s attention,” says Charles in an interview with SELF blog! This doesn’t mean the laser hair removal treatment is not possible for darker skin types, but make sure the facility you go to is properly equipped.
4. Hair removal isn’t permanent. Read on to know long it lasts.

Laser Hair Removal Reviews

Laser hair removal results have mixed reviews and so far, we deduced that people are not actually finding what they are looking for from this technique.

Even though laser hair removal clinics may claim the best results, the reviews we saw by actual users were different. For example, Dani, a client of laser treatment clinic City Laser Clinic, posted on their Instagram page – “I have had 8 treatments on my chest for annoying strands of hair. I got rid of them all and I recommend people go for the laser hair removal treatment.”

We also found a few positive reviews of laser hair removal results. Kate Marie, a tattoo/glam model, who goes by the name @etre_vu on Instagram wrote a review about her good experience – “I got the laser hair removal treatment done and the entire process was simple and easy.” It may be a paid collaboration with the laser clinic, Laseraway, so, don’t just rely on this review!

Negative Reviews on Laser Hair Removal Results

However, fitness blogger, Monica, from Run Eat Repeat, wasn’t as happy. She says she underwent 6 sessions for two areas – bikini and underarm. She was not happy with the treatment and mentioned on her blog that it did not work on her.  Also, she says that she had 30% hair reduction after the treatment, which is something good, but that is not what people look for from laser hair removal results. She adds, “The best candidate for laser hair removal is someone with light skin and dark hair because the laser somehow gets to the hair follicle through the skin and can see it better with that contrast.”

Bad Experience of Laser Hair Removal

Sunita Gandhi (name changed) 56, on the other hand, has had a terrible experience with laser hair removal and calls it a big scam. She went for multiple sittings for laser hair removal to get rid of the hair on her chin.

She says, “I went for 10-12 sittings over six months and got zero results.” “Frustrated with her experience, she wants as many people to know how useless the laser hair removal industry is.” “I got the laser hair treatment from Dr. Swati Mohan at Escorts hospital, Faridabad. The first month had just one sitting and the subsequent months had two sittings each. I spent a total of Rs 15,000 on them, along with another 15-20 thousand on expensive after-care creams and tablets the doctor has prescribed.”

“Initially, I thought some hair got reduced, but they grew back within a couple of days.

Frustrated, I went back to the doctor, who suggested I spend another ten thousand on additional “touch-up”.

And then I even enquired at a different hospital, Crowne Plaza, where the staff informed me that laser hair removal won’t give 100% results, it only helps to thin hair, not clean-remove them.”

“So I gave up, as this ordeal had cost me my time, energy and money! I had even spent a half hour at the beginning of every session to just apply ice on my chin as the doctor prescribed. And since then, I have met many other women with similar experiences who didn’t notice any difference at all after laser hair removal. Some women I’ve met even experienced increased growth of hair on the chin growing out like men’s beards!” Sunita was very happy to share her experiences in detail with Shilpa, as she informed her how many readers would find her story helpful before deciding to go for a treatment themselves.
