We take social responsibility very seriously. In the wake of Coronavirus, we’d like to inform our readers how we at ShilpaAhuja.com are addressing this situation and preparing ourselves for the COVID-19 outbreak.
To our lovely readers,
As the deadly Coronavirus outbreak engulfs our planet, each and every one of us are facing a new, uncharted (and not fun) territory. Since the inception of this magazine, I have tried for ShilpaAhuja.com to become a beautiful place of fashion and all things cheerful, that our readers come to escape into from all over the world.
However, that doesn’t mean that we take things lightly in the face of a disaster. On the contrary, we try to fight back when faced with a difficult situation. In the last few years, we’ve been through Chennai floods, a cyclone, a server hack, and I’m certain that together, we’ll get through the Coronavirus too. So I’d like to share how we at ShilpaAhuja.com are, and personally, I myself am, preparing for this and addressing this situation.
Social Distancing & Responsible Workplace
Currently, all our staff is working from home, and I am only giving them assignments they can do from the safety of their homes. Similarly, all our communication with staff, clients and guest authors is being done electronically.
Personally, I am staying indoors, and avoiding travel, and urge you all to do the same. I am also avoiding eating out, going to the malls and taking cabs as much as possible. I am aware that in doing so, and in influencing our reader community in doing so, I am hurting the local businesses. However, I firmly believe that our contribution towards social distancing will help contain this new disease, and it’ll be economically beneficial to them in the long run.
I also encouraged my house help to take a (paid) sick leave whenever she deems it necessary, even for cough and cold. And she did do so today. I am ordering my groceries online and paying online. I am not hoarding any essentials, but have certainly stocked up on non-perishable food items enough to last me a month, so that I can increase social distancing when the disease inevitably sets foot in my city.
Coronavirus Live Dashboard
We have also created a Coronavirus Live Dashboard with updated stats in India, map, graph, basic info and important resources. Please share this infographic on your Whatsapp groups or other social media. You can find a link to download a high res version on the same page.
Health & Respiratory Immunity
Furthermore, I have been working on improving my immunity since January. This includes making serious improvements to my lifestyle, such as doing yoga and pranayama every morning. I am also eating almost all balanced and home-cooked meals, avoiding processed foods, eating a timely and healthy breakfast and increasing whole wheat and pulses in my diet.
I’ll try my best to keep you informed on lifestyle tips necessary in this time of disaster. Please let me know below if you have any suggestions on what you’d like us to cover on ShilpaAhuja.com. I’ll seek counseling from health professionals and other experts to ensure whatever we publish in this magazine is well-informed and up-to-date, as we learn more about this epidemic.
In the meanwhile, I wish you all a healthy time and hope you all keep a cautiously positive attitude in these highly negative times.
