Anita Dongre Bridal Couture 2016 collection was presented at the India couture week. The fashion show was all about the Indian bridal and groom wear. The Indian wedding is incomplete without the look of lehengas and sherwanis.
The collection was mesmerizing with all the bright colors. Lehengas, anarkalis, palazzos and sarees were seen in the bridal womenswear. The groom collection included bundhgalas, kurtas and sherwanis. The sherwanis were plain and unadorned, except for zardozi work just at the neckline.
The embellishments on the the lehengas included gotapatti, zardozi, embroidery and threadwork in a few. Pockets were also seen in some lehengas which we very much need. A strong element of Mughal inspiration was seen in the collection, from the embroidery to the runway backdrop. Jackets with front slits were paired with pants, palazzos and even lehengas.
The color palette included hues of cream, red, pink, brown, blue, rich wine and orange. The collection’s beauty laid in the bright colors.
The outfits that drew most of my attention were the ones with the classic Indian lehengas with zardozi work all over paired with full sleeved cholis and differently draped dupattas.
The other look I liked was from menswear- a combination of red and cream, the basic colors you would see in any Indian wedding. It had embroidery on the kurta paired with a dhoti.
Heavy jewelry gave a perfect bridal look. Tightly done braids and heavy makeup were seen. Men’s accessories included nose rings which seemed quite lovely. The overall collection was amazing with all the perfect wedding looks for brides and wedding guests too.
